  1. Oh yeah, that's right... Reid, then Mike Marza, then Danielle Knox and possibly soon... calling Jeff Lennox at 4:00, 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30pm. For now, he's still weekend anchor with Robbin Simmons, who's been anchoring weekends for at least 15 years now at 'SVN. 'SVN is the station that's home to longtimers in the market... Nerey, Stevens, Martinez, Simmons, Ferro, Shapiro, DiPasquale, Campbell, Cameron, Gonzalez, Diaz, Cruz, Fraiser, Linsalata, Lowe... I can keep going and going.

  3. WGCL is returning to a Weekend Morning Newscast again... Details unknown at this time. also they are adding ANOTHER Met./Morning Reporter. the anchor will come from the current pool of talent at the station. Also either Jim Kosek or Jim Losnicka are fixing to leave. Hoping it is Jim that is leaving, his presentation just doesn't fit this station and it's direction anymore. Jim Losnicka would be a better choice. a great broadcaster and very knowledgeable about the technical terms of the weather. Time will tell over on 14th st.

  4. Maybe you can say Michael himself isn't good in the role, but it's laughable to say he's unqualified. He's co-anchoring alongside a former sports reporter/college athlete and a former political strategist. Lest we forget, Joe Garagiola had a similar career path as Michael...player turned analyst who later found fame as a talk show host and morning show contributor. At one point, even he was credited in the open of the the Today show. Again, maybe Michael isn't their best option, but nowhere in the rule book does it say that the anchor rolr is reserved for serious, classically-trained news reporters.

  5. I sometimes think we're a bit hard on Good Morning America, and Today. I just feel like these shows are evolving with the times, with this pop culture driven society. Trust me, I'm sure both shows heavily researched, and if it wasn't working, I'm almost positive both shows probably wouldn't spend so much time on "fluff and pop news.."

  8. At some point, the suits will have to look at the Mattere/Suppelsa pairing. Maybe they should try and poach Karen Jordan from 7, and have her replace Micah.

  9. Rhonda been doing mornings since 1998, but that when she was doing traffic over at FOX 2. In 2003, she jump ship to Channel 4 doing the morning news, but in 2007 for a hot minute she was doing the 5PM News. Not sure if it was for the hour-long or if it was 30 minutes. That didn't last long, so she was placed back on the morning news. WDIV has alot of castaways from FOX 2 and a few from WXYZ. Their talent bench is heavy. I still can't believe Carmen, is retiring. I just think the station would have her continue in some role, where they bring her out for special reports. She been the face of that station forever. There was a time back when WJBK/TV2 was CBS they were courting Carmen to jump ship.

  11. FTVlive picked up on WEWS's identity crisis... It's been in the making ever since they ditched the "NewsChannel" from their bug and started referring to themselves as "Channel 5" in non-news time periods. However, I think they will fare much better than Raycom has done with "Cleveland 19". I wish they would have NEVER ditched the original "Circle 5". The 1998 "NewsChannel" version was tolerable, but the 2004 mess of a logo set WEWS into the tailspin it has become over the last decade. The relaunch in 2007 was never the same. And since then, even WPTV has thickened their logo, which plays off the original much better. Cleveland was such a late-comer to the website game, that NewsNet5 was the FIRST full-fledged, full-time website of a top-4 station in Cleveland. NewsChannel5.com had been snatched up by now-sister station WTVF long before Cleveland could get WEWS.com up and running.... (WJW was first with their part-time website in 1995 powered by ZDepth, followed by WBNX in 1996). It wasn't until 2000 that ALL of the Cleveland stations were online. WOIO and WUAB were the last and only because they sold their souls (and the rest of Raycom) to WorldNow.

  13. Knowing that she had connections to the top didn't help the impression that she might not have been best-qualified. And, if nothing else, it's hard to believe she is the best that the network could come up with to be their #1 co-anchor in market #1, though that could be said for a few of the competitors, too.

  14. Maybe I'm just being swept up in the latest wave of nostalgia, but I feel like these shows were better in the 90s, as in I feel like they both devoted far more time to actual news than celebrity gossip and summer/fall/etc drink recipes. As its 15th anniversary approaches I wonder if September 11 caused all this; people are more afraid of the world and just want to "happy" news, or rather frivolous and want to be bothered with "the real world" as little as possible. Sorry if this is too off-topic but it's something I've noticed with the morning shows, not just GMA or Today or whoever.

  15. And you honestly think the News Director and GM had no input?!? That doesn't seem realistic...
