If anything, at least MSNBC's sets are still decent. CNN, meanwhile, runs on a cobbled-together newsroom set and a CBS This Morning knockoff, all while mothballing their old studio.

Yup, that PR offal got pushed onto WFRV's social channels and web too. The minimum I ask out of a broadcast group is to keep their CEO out of the news unless it involves death or a scandalous outing; Sinclair doesn't even do it, but Nexstar is like 'he's a pioneer!'. Surrre he is.

Fred did wonders during the "glory days" of WUSA....(when WJLA was running circles around them) If he leaves WOIO, will his severance pay be whatever the vending machine owes him?

The other thing these stations have in common is they're both circling the drain. However Nexstar may actually do WIAT a favor and whatever is going on at WEWS will bump up WOIO....

scripps is barely investing in WGBA outside of (necessary) technology upgrades. vizrt/the virtual set and HD news are a sign of that. keeping the staff lean makes me feel that they are going to try to "flip" the station. green bay seems too small market for scripps, and i bet they dump it in the future. same goes for WSYM in lansing. WGBA and WTMJ getting talent opens at the exact same time is no coincidence. TMJ's art department is operating as a partial extension of the scripps graphics hub, doing the graphics transitions of the journal group. that's why the rollout is so slow.

Aries had deep financial problems and couldn't compete, the news room was barebone. The only time WGBA had news personal levels that were comparable to the other stations in the market was the first five years or so Journal owned the station, not seeing ratings gains like Journal wanted and the recession deeply hurt the station after that time period. I think losing Larry McCarren hurts (you need recognizable people to get viewers). The other stations have double the news staff WGBA has and so far since Scripps ownership hasn't increase it any.

That was fast. Hopefully Nicole Brewer is the new morning anchor.

He'll get it over the next 3-5 years.

Shirleen Allicot posted on Facebook that she and her husband are expecting a baby girl March 2017. Congrats to them!

But why Lauren at 6? That's the real confusing sub.

WMAQ played rotating anchors today. Alex Maragos anchored at 4pm with Marion Brooks. Dick Johnson then joined her at 5pm. At 6 it was Dick Johnson and Lauren Jiggetts. Then at 10 it was Allison and Dick. WMAQ is in desperate need of male anchors but seems to be in no hurry to find any.
