  1. No, it's not. A full-screen from KTRK for comparison. Only seeing that screenshot, is it possibly just for political coverage, or is it being used on other news, too?

  2. Melody sounds like it spells "2 Steps Ahead" in the last four notes, but otherwise it sounds rather different. Perhaps a "v1" or a different theme that's melodically related? Whatever it is, it must have appeared pretty early in 1979 - the station ID from the 1980 clip appears at the tail end of this video, with different music carrying the same signature. The Chicago mayoral election mentioned occurred in April...

  3. I just noticed those tonight down here on WVEC as well. Haven't seen them before either, but the brightness/white makes me think it could be a part of the new package too.

  4. The pre-show bumper music sounds an awful lot like the music from these WFSB promos; which were presumably by Klein&.

  5. Because that's where it should be. This thread is for things that don't warrant their own thread. A new set is definitely thread worthy.

  7. Honestly, for some mets...yes. That would be a step up. Especially if it were WWL. Literally anywhere else in NOLA...probably not. Guess it depends on what floats your boat--tornadoes and hurricanes vs. blizzards and extreme cold in the winter! I also think that, for better or worse, a lot of viewers in Philly (and Tampa, where she was before, for that matter) focused on Sheena's...style, rather than substance. DC doesn't work like that. This is a chance to show off her forecasting skills and not be ogled on TV. Doug Kammerer, who I imagine also fit into that "style over substance" category in Philly, did the same move, and it's worked out just fine for him.

  8. I would be surprised if she is there. Seems like Joy said she will be there along with Jed, Sara and Raven. Paula said she'll be part of ABC's election coverage. I'm guessing the fifth spot would go to Sunny or Candace.

  9. Of course WABI creams them in the ratings as well...WABI is probably the most dominant (in its market) station in New England in a competitive market.

  10. But lets be honest... they both deserve it.

  11. Can't believe she retiring 20 years at WXIA and almost 30 years in the Atlanta market. Carmen Harlan in Detroit now Brenda Wood in Atlanta. WOW!

  12. Hey, you're not the one making the move; she is. She knew she was going to a station in a lower market for (possibly) a job in the mornings, but she chose it anyway. She got something new and took it. So what if it's a demotion? She's still getting work in a major city and is joining an already-established, highly-praised weather team. What's there not to accept? People move from high positions to lower ones all the time; Just like people moving to higher positions. it's not really something to sneeze at sometimes (at least to me). Just deal with it, and at least be happy for her. Whaaaat? Anyway, Comcast didn't move her out. She chose to leave for a job. They probably gave her the opportunity, but they did not push her out. 13. Okay, so by this reasoning, if I am the 5pm/11pm meteorologist at WNBC (#2 station in DMA 1 New York) and I take a job as morning meteorologist at WWL (#1 station in DMA 51 New Orleans), that's not a demotion. Get real!!! If it looks like a demotion and smells like a demotion .... it's a demotion! Sheena: Move from DMA 4 to DMA 7 + Move from evenings to mornings = Demotion If she went up in one area and down in another then it would be a lateral move, but that didn't happen.
