  1. Sad day indeed. Tom Holden and Don Guthrie would be rolling over in their grave over this merger.

  2. And I congratulate those who won't be a part of Nexstar... WTHI, KWQC, WFFT, WLFI, WBAY, WSLS and KADN/KLAF-LD.

  3. Meredith/Media General would've been better, but man... Nexstar, just like Sinclair and TEGNA, is killing broadcasting as we know it.

  4. Truly a sad day in broadcasting. My thoughts and prayers to any employee working at any Media General station.

  5. Keep in mind though that they're (still?) unveiling the new package to the former Journal stations. I remember saying some time ago that I was a bit disappointed they didn't just commission a new package, because the package is already 4.5 years old for their original stations, with the new ones having it for a year or less. Why build a new package after you just rolled out your current one to several of your stations barely a year ago?

  7. Nice to have confirmation. The instrumentation was a dead giveaway when it debuted.

  8. TODAY Show ratings are not declining. In fact It the opposite. In December Savannah renewed her contract through 2020. Matt renewed his through 2019. I like Al. He really funny

  9. Which ex-journal stations are due for the Scripps gfx? And a new package could take months if not a year more to be rolled out groupwide, so at least they'll have this look for a while.

  10. I think it's because not only was KLAS' previous theme done by 360, that theme was commissioned by KLAS. The two probably have a good relationship.

  11. Such a disgusting company. Really seems like the place to be in this business is at one of the privately-owned family companies like Hearst, Cox, etc. that aren't chasing the biggest margin for their shareholders.

  12. Another Media General GM is getting out while the getting is good. This time, it's Mark Bunting leaving WKRG & WFNA for the GM slot at WSFA in Montgomery... http://www.lagniappemobile.com/bunting-leaving-wkrg/

  13. Meredith was great and a it was a once in a life time opportunity. You would have to be crazy to turn it down. She made more than enough money to retire very comfortably before she was 60. Also she seemed to be an equal (knew how to stand up and challenge) to Matt compared to Ann and Savannah. It's a shame that they ignore her but to be honest I don't think she would return. She was publicly humiliated and treated like shit. Sure she did some reports for Nightly and Rock Center after the fiasco but she as well was given a boat load of money to be leave and be quiet.
