1. This is a general thread for the Fox O&Os since there isn't one yet... I figured I'd create a thread for Fox due to the continuing developments at Fox News and the O&O station group since the Ailes sexual harassment scandal began in July of 2016. Former O&Os (WJW, WHBQ, WFXT, WDAF, etc.) can also be covered under this thread. You're encouraged to create a new thread for major events such as Fox purchasing or selling a station, a new graphics package being adopted, etc.

 2. That's like from 1998-2011 KOCO's newscasts were known as "Eyewitness News 5" in 2012 they added "KOCO" to the Eyewitness News 5 name making it known as "KOCO Eyewitness News 5" and then when KOCO got new graphics and music in 2013 they dropped the Eyewitness News brand/format and became known as "KOCO 5 News"

 3. When WXYZ got them it was shortly before they went to Viz and they got new opens too.

 4. A news open from WBAL during their short-lived era of using "Third Coast". This was taken shortly after the switch to NBC. The news graphics are similar to WUAB and WOIO's from the time. Obviously this would all be gone very soon when Hearst rolled out new mandated graphics.

 5. They couldn't stay consistent and put the "52" in Goudy type?

 6. I'm not sure the correlation between this news and their merger bid. Sinclair has partnered with (the rotted remains of) MGM for quite a few things now.

 7. For what it's worth, while MSNBC's ratings may "lag" behind that of CNN US, it is probably because they don't openly air 24 hours of Political WWE matches. Every hour on CNN is a 4x4 screen of "CNN Political Commentators" (aka paid lackeys) shouting over each other. In addition, they seem to have picked the most extreme of the pundits they could find, on both sides. MSNBC, on the other hand seems more nuanced and academic during their panel discussions, as they tend to source in other journalists and opinion writers for their analysis instead of former two-term politicians and campaign chairmen. CNN seems to be looking for the ratings grab at any cost ("The idea that politics is sport is undeniable, and we understood that and approached it that way"), which is what you get when you hire a Network TV executive whose network success thrived on reality television to run your news channel.

 8. Are they whole new opens or just a tweak of the original ones?

 9. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that she's had a billion co-anchors in the last 5+ years, ratings haven't gone up and she was getting wayyyyy to comfortable in that chair as if she were untouchable. She can be sad all she wants, everyone saw this coming from a mile away. Edit: oh and money. It all comes down to money. She probably was making too much of it, and nothing (ratings) to show for.

 10. It's "Old fashion solutions...to old fashion problems." Now how many stations have a few large print typewriters, ribbons , and 7-ply carbon ready for the next power outage? How many reporters know how to use landline??? Rob is correct that you have to provide your talent and crew with the basic requirements for a full show remote. Monitors with shades is kinda important..so is a proper IFB for situation. At KBEX we do remotes with Solo cups and alligator clips....but we also pay our employees with Scratchers. I sensed dual frustration with that email the anchors sent. I can understand what it's like to really NEED a few basic items only to be told there is no budget. "Field producer"? What the hell are them? I get real cynical sometimes, but I can feel the pain for these folks. My greatest respect to Rob or the other producers cranking out a nightly bunch of shows in this God forsaken biz...with no signs of management support. (have an exit strategy) Hang in there, and keep up the good work. I wish we had room for all of you here at KBEX.

 11. Gonna need you to cite your source on that. Why would WFMZ triplex with WBPH and WLVT after they flipped some of the money they made selling their spectrum into buying other spectrum in the Valley AND buying KJWP's spectrum to expand their broadcast footprint south? Isn't WBPH's signal in the VHF band garbage anyway?

 13. And here's their new logo. As dull as you can imagine. At least that station is showing life. Maybe soon KWTV will start producing a 9:00 newscast for KSBI...er, News 9 Plus. (If it means anything to anyone, sister KOTV up I-44 in Tulsa produces a 9:00 for KQCW.)
