  1. Sexy little 80's-dance-club-meets-news sounding early 90's theme from WILX. Production music? Any clues?

  2. Wgn just had to go to commercial. Video playback and prompted issues.

  3. Maybe it would fetch them some money that they could be in need of but to ABC? Nah. You probably already know this but there were many rumors that NBC was trying to get it in 2006 to replace WHDH which was right around the time Ansin created the 7/56 duo. The most I could see between ABC and Ion is a hyothetical alliance (I know, really out there). But thats not happening.

  4. There had been rumors but this evening WREG's Richard Ransom appeared to confirm on Twitter that he has left the station effectively immediately. No reason given (but probably could make some educated speculation)

  6. Speaking of John Christopher Burns, my favorite work from him was for WTMJ in 1992. Gotta love the color & logo design, nice music from KING-TV, Beau Weaver's voiceover, and much more.

  7. WTLV fined for using EAS tones in a station promotion for multiple days. Featuring FTVLive, here's the link Scott Jones provided. http://jacksonville.com/metro/business/2017-05-30/jacksonville-s-wtlv-tv-12-owner-fined-use-emergency-alert-tones-jaguars After watching the promo, wow. How stupid could you be to think this was a good idea?

  8. KLTV 1985 really sounds like something from Dallas. Not sure who though. TM? VTS (who recorded their music in Dallas)? That KLTV 1985 clip is certainly an interesting mix. You also have Bill Meeks' "Spirit of Oklahoma" from KWTV on the IDs (no relation to the KOTV "Spirit of Oklahoma"). And the animation looks very similar to WFAA's "Spirit of Texas" ID animations (though whether it's the same production house, I have no idea). I also wonder if KLTV is related to the mystery music KXAS used for news tease IDs in 1983. I've seen IDs both saying "5 Action News" and "5 News", but no actual newscast footage from '83 has yet surfaced. That music is too short for me to make a judgment, but it is one of the first things I think of when I hear KLTV 1985 (it has an almost identical 3-note statement at one point). Of course, the first thing I think of when I hear KLTV 1985 is News '80s, which it resembles (but definitely isn't).

  9. Funny, WMAQ was having severe playback issues at the end of their 5pm show yesterday. The final two segments ended in black screen with flickering graphics. Not a good day for Chicago News tech.

  10. Sinclair would play the victim regardless of how the story was reported. I'm not defending the coverage here, but they would whine if these stories were impeccably handled, decrying them in chain-wide must-carry "editorials" as "FAKE NEWS!" Look at the broad-based reaction to Gabriel Sherman's coverage of Fox News as a precursor to any critical coverage of Sinclair. If you're a Republican, you'll blindly support Sinclair to the ends of the earth, without question. If you're a Democrat, you want Sinclair knocked down to size, if not run out of business. It's pretty cut-and-dry here.

  12. Have WDPX channel share with someone in town and cash out WBPX. Double the money grab.

  13. Add New York Magazine to the list of misinformed sources... It's shoddy reporting like this that ENCOURAGES Sinclair that they are being unfairly targeted. In this case, they are. Any ammunition they can state as fact only makes their spreading of other falsehoods that much worse.

  14. I don't mind Hallie. I want to know what's so special about Katy Tur? If Craig is off, she subs for him. If Chuck is off, she subs him. She's on more often than everyone else @ MSNBC and is the absolute worst. Is there no one else who can take on more work/responsibility (Ali, Peter, etc..) besides her? She just awful beyond belief.

  18. I don't think she was comparing herself to Oprah. As I remember it, Charlie Rose asked her what kind of show she would ideally want to to. Her response was “a little Charlie Rose, a little Oprah, and a little me all together.”

  19. Her ego and high confidence in herself. She will probably turn off people cause she is full of herself. She does not have a cool sister factor like Wendy Williams, a mother like vibe of Oprah or even a cutesy vibe of Kelly Ripa. I don't know what she will represent. They can give her the stars, the moon, the Today show or give her an Hollywood audition just don't mess with Lester Holt and his job security. He has been their blood, bones and vitality for that network. Highly respected among viewers, revered and history making journalist and possible historical figure in his industry. Lester has surpassed the level of his other peers in terms of his importance and significigance to their industry. Lack can't be stupid enough to play politics and push him aside like he can with the rest of his talent. If he does that, then he will risk boycotts and riots and viewers leaving in drove. That boycott outside of News Corp is nothing compared to what will happen if Lack decides to mess with Lester.

  20. Nicole Wallace is cool. I am happy for her. Stephanie Ruhle, she is cool, like her show, passionate and can host her own business show on MSNBC. Am I the only who thinks that Hallie Jackson is a little overrated? I like Hallie but at the same time I think her fast rise is getting inside her head. She has been given a big push but I was listening to her the other day and she has a motor mouth. She works so much, she must be on speed. She talked way to fast and her story was all over the place. I don't think she is ready for primetime. Needs to go back to being a White House Correspondent before getting a show. What happened to Morgan Radford? She is intelligent and speaks very calmly. Lack should put her on tv. He has a serious lack of diversity issues on MSNBC.

  21. He should keep Lawrence O'Donnell and axe Brian Williams 11pm spot to put in a open panel unrated discussion show. I have been hearing a rumor that Lack wants to give Brian Williams a primetime spot. That is very stupid, cause Williams is damaged goods and lucky to still be working. Williams is a ticking time bomb and all that Lack cares about is getting more juice out of Williams. All that Lack should care about is trying to put Williams into retirement the next few years. Lack has a diversity issue he is hiring all these white bread hosts but once the election rolls around the diverse electorate is going to come back into full force again. He needs diverse hosts, he should steal someone like Angela Rye on CNN who is very smart and great for television. This next election is going to be election for the millenials and MSNBC does not have the pulse of millenials who is going to be a predominant group in the next four years.
