  1. Maybe when John Muller said he would never do mornings again, he meant as long as Suki was there.

  2. I dunno... if they took the viewer feedback regarding Ana that seriously, they would have taken her off by now and had Cortney Hall or someone else anchor. I betcha if Facebook was around back when Robin started anchoring, they would have said the same thing.

  3. Eh, seems more like KMBC going with what the market is doing. KSHB has been using cold opens for many months now. I don't know what WDAF and KCTV do, but I'm more inclined to believe it's them following KSHB's lead. Less open = more news.

  4. I remember when I heard the terrible news, I ran home and hugged my children...which was strange because my kids were supposed to be in school. I think the biggest shocker for me in 2013 was the death of Annette Funicello. The old folks tell stories about searching the internet in 1957 for "annettes breast" because back then you couldn't use "tits" or "boobs" as search terms . She was the most searched term in 50's back when the internet used typewriters and Tv's.

  5. ftvlive is reporting that KPNX weekend meteorologist Dr Matt Pace and KPNX Chief Investigative Reporter Wendy Halloran have been let go from the station. I thought Dr Matt Price was a solid meteorologist (although recently he had been copying James Quinones' lingo which sounds silly). Oh yes, and KPNX has replaced Dr Matt Pace with former Fox 10 reporter Kristen Keough, starting tomorrow.

  6. I don't think they will go group wide. A lot of Hearst stations have been shortening their opens recently. WXII recently switched to a cold-style open with the same music as KMBC. A cold open is technically a short V/O and then right to news. Correct? And, it seems like Strive is being updated a lot. A hear new cuts almost constantly. Do stations or Hearst commission the updates?

  7. Just wait for them to ask for those fancy long form production opens like CBSTM and F&F do.... It used to be a cold open was "special"....kinda like "exclusive" once was. If you over use the cold open....it warms...and rots quicker. A warm mushy un-crisp cold open is the worst....like a ripe baloney sandwich on a hot day.

  8. I would describe that as more of an "umbrella open," KMBC trying to make it look like they have several urgent stories when they really don't. That's a producer/executive producer decision, not a Hearst thing.
