1. Everything is right on this ID except KNEP and KCHY because I think KCHY still simulcasts KCWY-DT while KNEP should be 4.2, not 2.1. KOTA is on 4.1 It's also weird that the flagship of this multi-simulcast is KNEP thinking that it should be KSTF 10.2 instead since its licensed to Scottsbluff.

 2. I came across a KDRV news open from 1985 and was wanting to know if it sounds like a Tuesday piece or some other work. (News open is seen at 2:55)

 4.
I can't give you any specifics, unfortunately, but I can definitely tell you it was not a custom NBC piece...
I worked at an NBC affiliate back during this period and never heard that much of the theme in the clear. @Ntropolis in your first clip, I hear a custom NBC logo built into the end under the anchor. Perhaps the composer added that for NBC to use it. I have a guess over the composer/company and two reasons why I believe it. I bet it's a Craig Palmer (Tuesday Prod/Network Music) theme. Why? (1) The station used two packages from Tuesday during the mid 80's through the mid 90's. The open and close to the newscast @ChesapeakeTV linked to uses News 88... (2) the two bumpers don't appear to be from News 88, but are similar in that they use a triangle instrument loop in the background. That sound is featured in a lot of Tuesday's work. Anyhoooo, I think it was a great pensive, haunting, dramatic cut that prepared the viewer for a rough and tumble, crime-filled newscast to follow and not so pleasant dreams! :D

 6. FUN FACT: Yesterday was the five-year anniversary of the Hearst Diagrid Graphics and Strive. They debuted on July 18, 2012 on WESH's noon newscast. Plus, if you can, please take a gander at my above post. I'm curious. Thanks!

 7. Folks, I'm going to ask all of you who follow TVNT to send prayers and well wishes to WTHR's main anchor John Stehr. Stehr is taking a leave of absence from the Indianapolis NBC affiliate and 13 Eyewitness News to recover from open heart surgery. Stehr made the announcement on Facebook that about his diagnosis and departure. All of us at TVNT send our prayers and get well wishes to John Stehr and to his family. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/indianapolis-anchor-takes-leave-of-absence/192273

 10. I was told the 30-minute version of The Now that WTMJ has was actually an experimental format, and it seems to be working. Not surprised that Scripps is rolling it out to other stations. I know WGBA also picked it up while retaining Wisconsin Tonight which is a good sign for some other stations (WMAR) who have yet to launch The Now but also have existing successful non-traditional news shows. I'd also not be surprised if some of the existing "Now"s get reformatted to late afternoon/evening 30-minute shows.
