  1. It appears that Michael Randall composed the unknown theme used by WRC in the mid-80s, at least according to the guy who posted a clean copy of that open (and was obviously involved in WRC promotions during the period). See the comments on It kinda makes sense. I get a real WNEV vibe out of the end even though that theme was not introduced until 1989. The WJW theme that was rolled out in 1985 is also a useful comparison.

  2. I love those first three KMTV opens. I've been wanting to see those since I saw a tease left after a Jeopardy! episode posted on YouTube. The musical signatures don't seem to match any of the known news music composers, but rather that of Nebraska's own Chip Davis of Mannheim Steamroller.

  3. The answer to that question is NO. Tanja Babich anchoring the Sunday morning news today.

  4. I'm in a WBMG mood tonight... Whether that be a big hunk of 42 News Plus from 1978... Or the 1989 Christmas tape... (All 45 minutes of it!) Or a 1994 newsbreak!

  5. Despite the program guide's claim of Fox 32 News following the late preseason Bears game, so dice. They went directly to Fox 32 Postgame Live. (Speaking of which, I'm surprised that CSN/NBC doesn't have a trademark on the Postgame Live name.)

  6. It seems Joe anchored solo tonight at 11. Was he solo for the early evening newscast?

  7. I think due to his regular program he only seems to anchor breaking news that is really big or breaking news that is already planned such as congressional hearings or speeches, etc.

  8. This is nothing new. Baca has filled in on the weekend evening, but only when she wasn't anchoring the morning show (which she did today). The question is will she be on tomorrow morning?

  9. KAMC update in 1985. What's this theme? Graphics elsewhere included some materials also used by WFAA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Z5LJXRwPIxM;t=939

  10. Been meaning to post this for a while, as this has actually been slowly taking place over the past several weeks: WMC has undergone a pretty major anchoring shuffle. Kym Clark asked to move from the weekday morning news to noon and 4PM, and finally received permission from the bosses. She displaces morning anchors Kendall Kirkham and Janeen Gordon at noon, and evening anchor Kontji Anthony at 4. This will be the first time WMC has a designated anchor for this shift. Replacing Kym in the morning is weekend evening anchor Felicia Bolton. But the rest of the morning team has been changed around, too. Instead of Kendall Kirkham, Andrew Douglas is now at the anchor desk with Felicia. He moves over from the "Alert Center." Weekend morning anchor Kendall Downing is currently stationed at the Alert Center in place of Andrew; not sure if that's permanent or not. This has also resulted in Kendall Kirkham being sent to anchor on weekend evenings (and of course report during the week). Unsure if that's to be permanent either, although it's possible she may have asked for a reduced shift to spend more time with her child. Weekend mornings are rotating anchors for the time being as well. All of this comes after a meteorologist shuffle I posted about earlier this year which found all but Chief Meteorologist Ron Childers swapping shifts. WMC must be trying to do all they can to beat WREG, which has been vulnerable since Richard Ransom parted ways with the station. And come to think of it, I still haven't seen any July Sweeps ratings for Memphis, which WREG normally posts in a heartbeat when they've won...
