  1. We take you to 1985 and a Christmas party tape from WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, AL. (Unknown news theme can be heard at :26 for a promo)

  2. The entire 1993-95 Sky branding package, covering all their channels, was done by Gari, so this is a real "Great News II"... Here's a compilation. [spoiler=I like the next package better, though...]

  3. What's really amazing is that John Coleman was in the business for over 60 years, here he is at WCIA in 1958:

  6. I myself didn't bother noticing this for years until now, but yeah, using two packages simultaneously is quite bizarre.

  9. That KAMR video has the logo they used when Peters did "It's 4 Sure" for them... Staying in Amarillo, various KVII items from the 90s (both TVbD and Enforcer):

  10. The newsreader position is a waste of time. The Today show flows better and is much faster pace without having a newsreader. The transitions is much easirer. To tell you the truth there is really no need for 7 people on these morning shows. I love the CBS format of only 3 people and no weather person.

  11. I think we are overvaluing the Today show and it's personnel nowadays. The Today show is no longer a pivotal source of news and information. It is mainly an advertising block for their sponsors. The Today lost it's steam the last 10 years but after the rise of digital news, network morning television is not longer a vital source to pop culture. Nowadays, the need for a big time anchor is slowly fading especailly on Today show which is 10% news and the rest is all fluff. To me they should turn Today show into entertainment program. Non of the anchors are serious credible journalists. Give the bookings and interviews to the evening news anchor. Right now Lester is the top anchor at NBC and therefore should have more leverage to do bookings for interviews.

  12. The consummation notice only posted KRNV. The KENV notice should be posted soon. And I wouldn't be surprised if that closing date is the same as KRNV's (1/9).

  13. I noticed this a while back and didn't really mention it... But found it odd that they were using 2 different graphics packages... It was bothering me quite a bit and glad they finally fixed it.. Let's hope that when the next update comes out that they fully transition smoothly...

  14. I have trouble fathoming why they went with such a goofy schedule in the first place... that’s probably part of it... it created a vacuum and you know how nature feels about said suction...

  15. As of January 9th, KRNV is now a Cunningham Broadcasting station. So "in-name-only", Intermountain West Communications. RIP Jim Rogers.

  16. I can see pixelation in the opens and a legal ID mentioning WTLV instead of WJXX, probably because it was meant to be very temporary. I also saw an Allbritton-era WJXX ID at the beginning of the video. Speaking of Gannett: Have you knew before that the 1990s version of the Deathstar was used on WKYC, KVUE (owned by Belo from 1999-2013), WTLV, and WMAZ? I still can't find a video of KXTV's Deathstar or KPNX's use of the 2000s version of the Deathstar ID (also used on KUSA and WUSA).

  19. It did not seem to affect the 10 AM start. I wonder if they taped the 10 o'clock hour durning the 9 am hour and then played it at 10. This might be a viable way of having Hoda with Savannah to update the 7:00 clock start for the West Coast instead of having someone else do it with Savannah. (This is just my speculation)

  22. A WYFF story in 1993, showing a hint of their look pre-John Christopher Burns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr1yslPW6_k And some shots of the KTVN newsroom and set in 1988. The real treat is at the end: an "off-air recording" (sort of) with We Know What Matters! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwSymvEHyzg KKCO in 2002 features at the start of this clip... KUSA meets TVbD?
