  2. He was based in Cleveland, according to information WNOL provided to a viewer letter in the Times-Picayune's TV section about one of their movie spots. He also did a lot of work for Showtime and HBO, much of which you can see on YouTube.

  3. This is about the fifth set I've seen that has the girders, the monitor banks, the rounded desk, etc. The most infamous one would be KNXV's "spaceship" set, and I've seen similar ones in use at WGNX (during the late indie/early CBS era), WOIO/WUAB (during the "Cleveland Television News" period), and maybe a couple others. Does anybody know who designed all these sets?

  4. This reminds me of the Tom "TJ Thunder" Johnston scandal that rocked WCSH last year. There was an allegation of sexual assault, and as the authorities closed in he went missing, and his body was found days later. He killed himself rather than face the music. He had a history of questionable behavior down in Florida before he came north. Tegna forced their longtime chief met Joe Cupo into retirement to advance Johnston. That blew up in their face big time.

  8. The NMSA needs another add - WDTV used “Tuesday12” in 1987. https://w3.cdn.anvato.net/player/prod/anvload.html?key=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%3D%3D#amp=1 And here’s a WNYT story on their new set in 1995, which they’re now taking down...

  9. Oh what fun we would all have if Nielsen and ComScore tracked political affiliations and made it it's own measured demographic. Get ready.

  10. I’d love to read this as them phasing Michael out and ending the experiment. But I think it almost just means Michael is officially at Robin and George’s level and acknowledging that their format is now a three anchor show. I was really supportive of the Michael decision at first but man was I wrong.

  11. A couple Chicago clips from the late 70's... The early Saturday morning WGN Newsbreak, as read by...Ron Rolland? Part of a 1976 WLS newscast. Joel and Fahey broke out the tuxes for their 8th anniversary on-air together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=EF9Q-VIl7U8;m=1;s=27

  12. If I didn't know any better I'd venture to guess execs are testing out a new trio. I think it's apparent to everyone who watches Michael just doesn't work in this format, and even though they've tried him on serious interviews, he just doesn't have the chops for it, and doesn't clash well most of the time. Idk maybe a broad assertion but the fact that this is the first time anyone has filled in for Michael instead of just Robin and George indicates they're trying new things over at the Alphabet network.

  13. Steve Greenberg posted a video to Twitter on 2/21 that showed the windows to 1A covered. It maybe nothing, however I don't foresee a full studio overhaul (if any work was done).

  17. I suspect Mr. Perry was based in Cleveland. I recall hearing his voice on a spot on the then 3WE radio (now WTAM) for the Cleveland Symphony (at Severance Hall). The WILX link to him makes sense, because at that time the station was owned by Cleveland-based conglomerate ATO, which morphed into Figgie Communications. I believe there is (or was) a promo for Dayton's WHIO-TV's Newscenter 7 that used Mr. Perry's talents.
