1. Is it a different show there? I’d love to see the WPBF version... maybe it’s actually interesting...

 2. This is some sort of KGTV 1989 news special called "One Night in San Diego". There's some other stuff in the video too. And some of KFMB's 11:00 "News Eight" from October 1989. Rain is adding to the misery of the Loma Prieta earthquake. Note the interesting live report by telephone from KMST's weatherman Carl Bell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=umoHa5UU3b8;t=459

 3. I saw in an old book about TV, where they (people) used to have to get up and walk to the TV to change the channel. That was before the world was in color ...in the olden days.

 4. I wonder where they got these transitions from...

 5. There's no reason to change the music. Part of the reason Eyewitness News is successful is because it has a long history and a recognized brand. The music is part of that. Loyal viewers who have been watching for 10, 20, 30+ years like it and like the consistency. They don't like change.

 8. A WDEF report from April 1997, good example of their last year using the “12” logo from the 1960s

 9. It got old very quickly on KMSS and they've only used it since 2015. Guardian would sound way better at KMSS imo. In WOWK's case, they would have sounded better just using CBS Local.

 10.
I'm afraid you've been bamboozled @Raymie. All the uploads that guy does are stolen from other channels (mostly ChenowithRules and its sister channels). Here is the original source of that clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=UyrBzBaj8ak;m=1;s=27
Yeah, I kinda wondered...though I had not seen that (I tend not to see stuff in large commercial blocks if I'm not already looking for it). That said, it really does illustrate what a leap their 1990 graphics were.

 11. It's hard to get excited about WBBM. It's a shame that nothing really works for them. It's like they rotate GM/ND every so many years, then rotate female anchors, then rotate GM/ND again, rinse and repeat.

 12. WFAA had that current logo since '96 with refreshed set and "The Spirit" theme in the Belo era.

 13. It probably will be. It could be too. All I know is that the WFAA logo look that we've all known will be no more. TEGNA likes to change it up.

 14. A similar situation happened in Milwaukee, too. From 1990 to 1992, WTMJ branded itself as "Milwaukee's 24-Hour News Channel," while WISN branded as "Your 24-Hour News Service". Other than these instances, for the most part, the "24-Hour News Source" format wasn't used simultaneously among competing same-market stations in very many places during the period it was widely used.
