  1. Well, I found what the main non-newscast logo will look like. And here's more of the upcoming graphics in action.

  2. The clip above reminds me of this classic SNL skit featuring Dana Carvey as Tom Brokaw: https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/tom-brokaw-pre-tapes/n10894

  3. I think this one is not that surprising considering that David Crabtree did not move out of the anchor chair like many had thought he would. Wonder if he will go back to Cincinnati?

  4. Another DFW Veteran broadcaster is hanging up the mic. Longtime KDFW FOX 4 anchor/reporter Richard Ray is retiring on May 1st, but his last on-air newscast will be Sunday, April 21st (Easter Sunday). Richard has been in broadcasting for nearly 50 years; 36 years at KDFW. We wish Richard Ray all the very best. (In a subsequent tweet to unclebarky.com, Ray said he’s just been informed that Fox4 has added a May 1st sendoff during the 9 p.m. newscast “and maybe more. KDFW TV & Dallas/Fort Worth have been good to me.”)

  5. Okay, long post. Sure enough, the morning show pretty much blacked out the latter half of the 90's, though mainly because today was a tribute to Roz's 30th anniversary, alongside the program. Rahm Emanuel dedicated the day to her, the Chicago Theatre put her name on the marquee, her mother, husband & daughter surprised her, and Alan Krashesky was in-studio to present her with her Disney-issued 30-year award. https://abc7chicago.com/society/celebrating-30-years-of-abc7s-morning-show/5230765/ Mentioned on Windy City Live, Hosea Sanders' cancer is now in remission. This was posted today by one of WLS's graphics guys. Everything he's previously posted has seen the air, sooner or later. Again, you could draw some parallels to some of the sister stations, but it appears to be their own package. https://vimeo.com/328314550

  6. Hello all, I have started uploading videos at a new YouTube site - Houston TV History. I only have a few clips up right now, but am looking to bring back some old favorites as well as some "new" classic content in the coming days and weeks. The first three are examples of the latter - stuff I haven't posted before. A rare editorial statement from KTRK's Dave Ward on crime from August 1991. A promo for KRIV's 7 PM newscast from mid-1986, during the transition from Metromedia to Fox And not news... (well, there's a quick spot for it prior to the open) but the intro to KRIV's late night movie showcase, "Nightwatch 26" from the same period.

  7. Fun Fact: Hot Haus' Matt Quinn is based in Cleveland and has done a lot of work with both WOIO and WKYC. Quinn was behind OIO's famous graphical looks through most of the 2000's. Not a stretch to think they went local again with a familiar face. Much like the Nashville stations do with 615 (WCPM)

  8. I can understand your concern. However, this is not a rejected mock from someone at Gray, but instead it was on one of the weather monitors during an actual newscast. Likely, WOIO does have it in its systems, so the question will be when. As far as graphics saving WOIO, I know graphics alone can't save WOIO, I'm just asking that the newscasts be more watchable, that's all.

  9. If Gray does this right, they might have saved WOIO.

  10. Looks quite nice. That horrible Cleveland 19 logo needs to go.

  11. I have a bad feeling about that soon-to-be new "19" logo. I wished 'OIO adopted the WXIX logo from '86-09.
