Good look, but the first 30 seconds of that newscast is enough to make me want to change the channel. Shaky camera and the anchors seem a bit unsure of themselves. Plus, holding tablets looks d u m b. At least you can fold papers.3 points

Tiffani Tucker is sort of like a low-budget version of Romona Robinson. Being a who's who of poached Cleveland TV personalities alone wasn't going to work, so they all got slashed from the budget by the time they realized they've doped down the product too much... At least they weren't this desperate...2 points

honestly this is indeed a lot like a good reboot of what they had in the late 2000s, I like it.2 points

Well shoot--at least buy the anchor dinner first...or, you know, let them ass you a few interview questions.2 points

In honor of the new logo and name, let's remember the last three-plus years of "Cleveland 19 News" on WOIO with this video: Wouldn't it be funny if the station read a statement on the "Cleveland 19" ear saying "it was all a dream" like Dallas (and even Saturday Night Live) circa 1986? The "Cleveland" branding was the brainchild of the management that was around in 2015, and it never paid off. The news music sounded too similar to what WEWS has been using, the logo and its color scheme reminded people of both the Golden State Warriors and University of Michigan Wolverines, and some of the new anchor teams were boring. The new image seemed to have been built around a team, whose anchors once worked together at WKYC, but only appeared together on WOIO on two newscasts, while those who initially stayed from the "Action News" branding eventually leaving or reassigned to other slots. There were also new morning and midday teams that never quite clicked with viewers, and didn't last very long. Neither did some new reporter hires during those three-plus. Hopefully, "19 News" with throwbacks to "Action News" can find success and get the station (and WUAB) competitive again.2 points

Haha... I can't believe she's been with 19 for more than 10 years! And it's funny how we're harkening back to "19 Action News" as a "success" - particularly since "Cleveland 19" was such a snooze! Cleveland is a funny TV market. It seems 19 and 3 basically traded their entire stable of personalities over the past 5 years. Lynna Lai, Danielle Serino, Dawn Kendrick for Romona Robinson, Lydia Esparra and Mark Nolan. And they all lost their personalities in the process! If they want to bring the "Action" back into 19, they need someone with some personality... "Calling Danielle Serino from her Jim Donavan sidekick role at Channel 3......!" (Oh WKYC, talk about a station with a deep bench of talent yet so few newscasts. But I digress.)1 point

Ah yes....the story that actually put WOIO on top of the ratings....that one time....1 point

They had personalities like David Wittman and Denise Dufala (the former elder statesman of WOIO), but Raycom went cheap and decided to rely on Tucker and Tanaka for its newscasts.1 point

I agree. And somebody needs to give Chris Tanaka a cup of coffee. His style is very bland for this reboot. They need to invest in some personalities to help pull this off. It is like they’re pressing the “undo button” and going back to the future...but new graphics aren’t going to fix the poor production and bland anchors.1 point

Give it a year. They'll be sitting at the desk in no time, just like during the Action News era. Now we just need is Tanchak to scare the weather to you in the evenings...1 point

Really? WTVR used that slogan in the late 2000's.1 point

This is Albany. The bigger political bump comes while the State Senate and Assembly are in session and ads targeted towards pushing policy hit the air in the event it reaches both voters and the elected. While a lot of the New York counties in the DMA swung from Obama to Trump, it is still a solid Democratic state thanks to Downstate. If John Faso takes on Antonio Delgado for his old seat or if the Democrats find a viable person to take Elise Stefanik on, this may be a different story though Stefanik's money probably would go more to WPTZ than the Albany stations. Only one of the six Senate seats in the DMA (Markey, MA) is up and Albany stations never run MA/VT political ads. I think this is one half "we're getting killed at 10:00" and the other half setting up things for the future. If WNYT soon releases some report of an anchor swap between 5:30 and 11:00, then the other half would be "Jim Kambrich wants to get home two hours earlier".1 point

He’s not replacing nobody. He’s an anchor from the alert desk so breaking news, information just coming in type of stories. Roxanne and Sheli are still the Main morning anchors.1 point

As long as Nexstar lets WJW be WJW, then they'll always reign supreme in Cleveland. With Tegna meddling into WKYC's affairs and WEWS just now getting out of its slump, WOIO has an opportunity to finally relive the glory days of Action News without all the infamy.1 point

Did anyone know that WWL-TV used to do morning news at 5:00 a.m. IN 1989? I just now learned about this. Also, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee was on at 8:00 a.m. after the Eyewitness Morning News. This, now, is making me think that WWL-TV aired three hours of morning news from 5:00-8:00 a.m. back in the day, which is kinda hard to believe.1 point

A WYFF weekend newscast from 1996 featuring KOCO’s Tyler Suiters on sports. Second to WTMJ this is one of John Christopher Burns’ best design concepts.1 point

Thank you for the kind words. Thank you to everyone else who echoed similar sentiments as well! The copyright concern debacle was an interesting one in that NBCU's person(s) chose a number of clips that ran the gamut of what I had uploaded. They included a few of the complete newscasts from Telemundo O&Os KTMD & KXTX to the sign-off of the low-powered WBGH in Binghamton, NY circa 2006 (Because of the peacock on the static image? I don't know...). The few attempts I made to get reversals on decisions regarding a couple of videos were rebuffed. I also had a lot on my plate at the time on the personal and professional front and just let it go. I still have pretty much everything that I uploaded on the original version anyway, so it's just a matter of time before some of it starts to return. As for a dedicated site - stay tuned for news on that front. Both of the sites you mention are great and an inspiration regarding what I would like to accomplish with the content I have down the line.1 point

Well, I found what the main non-newscast logo will look like. And here's more of the upcoming graphics in action.1 point
