The lack of any real competition in the market could be one reason.2 points

Coincidentally, earlier today, I made a spoof of the new Scripps gfx. I wasn't planning on posting it on TVNT, but now I can't help myself. Enjoy!2 points

By the way, another observation I'll make: Why didn't Gray invest in new duratrans for WDAM's set? It doesn't match the new graphics very well.1 point

I'd be very interested to see how Hemmer does in that hour, I do wonder if he'll lead the Special Reports and Breaking News coverage for Fox or will that go to somebody else?1 point

Bill Hemmer will take over the 3pm slot on Fox News. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/dec/9/bill-hemmer-tapped-for-shepard-smiths-slot-at-fox-/1 point

Furthermore, the WFLD package shown in the clip lacked a key component of TVbD/JCBD's graphics of the 1980s and early 1990s. The layer effects of the name banners and title logos in the news open just slide from left to right, not zooming out or coming together at a split point. Basically, every package from those two companies had that element at that time; this package doesn't. Compare the WFLD open to the WGN midday open and to these...1 point

Another senior local news anchor is signing off at CTV. Ken Shaw, the long time anchor of CFTO/CTV Toronto's noon ant 6 PM newscasts, is leaving his post on the anchor desk in January 2020. He will still be part of the CTV News team doing special projects for at least the next year. A Frank magazine article in November had suggested that CTV may have pushed Shaw out as part of a round of layoffs in October. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ctv-news-toronto-s-veteran-anchor-ken-shaw-announces-retirement-1.4719052 Shaw is the latest long-serving local news anchors at the CTV network to leave. On November 14, Gord Leclerc, one of CKY/CTV Winnipeg's main anchors for 24 years, was unceremoniously let go after presenting the station's noon newscast. https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/special/instagram/anchor-leclerc-laid-off-by-ctv-564943692.html In September, CFRN/CTV Edmonton's Daryl McIntyre ended his 33-year run as that station's top news presenter; he had stated publicly that he was forced to take a buyout. https://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-news/liane-faulder-its-a-wrap-as-daryl-mcintyre-leaves-the-nightly-news-desk-at-ctv In April 2018, CTV also let go Tamara Taggart and Mike Killeen, the two principal anchors at CIVT/CTV Vancouver. Tamara had been at CIVT since the launch of that station in 1999. https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/ctv-vancouver-fires-news-anchors-tamara-taggart-mike-killeen Some of the legacy news anchors that remain across the CTV network are Steve Murphy and Bruce Frisko (ATV/CTV Atlantic), Mutsumi Takahashi (CFCF/CTV Montreal), Ian White (CFCN/CTV Calgary), and Jim Chricton (CHWI/CTV Windsor).1 point

I took the liberty of rewatching her last newscast on Saturday night after the news broke while NewsOn still had it up. She looked fine at that time which makes this even more shocking especially since if there was a family history she sure, as a health reporter, wasn't vocal about it. I think it was in-house. The graphics look a bit less slick and colorful than what TVBD and JCBD were going for at the time.1 point

Well at least the open has more depth to it than WWSB's open. But I'm not a huge fan of this gfx package. That random spinning sphere seems awkward, in this open.1 point

Do not hold out hope for Move Closer To Your World sticking around. Tegna (then Gannet) shattered my dreams when it ripped the Spirit Of Texas out from under WFAA for no good reason at all. This company’s main goal in life is to take away anything that made a station unique, watchable and likable and replace it with cheaply designed, grossly underpaid, non-focus grouped cow manure. Thus, they will take great pleasure in sending MCTYW down the Lougee Loo and replacing it with their new age scat-snap-and-clap-fest as the viewers of NE PA light their torches and call for some heads—that I can assure you. They will spit in the faces of their valued viewers and laugh as they smash WNEP under their boots. As an aside, can someone please bring back Belo? I will buy you lunch! (For context: I’m not some old fart reminiscing about the good old days. I’m in my early-mid twenties, you know, the demographic Tegna is trying to reach with their crap. Just sayin’.) Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.1 point

I totally agree...the in-house team at WAVE are very good at designing gfx--that is for sure.1 point

WAVE is what I'd envision a Tegna V3 or Scripps V3 update would have looked like. The L3s are very reminiscent of Tegna.1 point

How she manages to land jobs is beyond me. One of the worst anchors I've seen in a big market.1 point

Hi there, original poster of the tribute. David Downs' channel had over 25 million views alone, so this news is still heartbreaking to say the least. Please keep his family and GF Amanda in your thoughts.0 points

Sad news from the game show + retro community. Poster David Downs who runs the Fun and Games Channel on youtube (Wheel, J!, vintage HBO, etc..) + created sarcastic videos on the day's TPIR on facebook under his aforementioned name, passed away at the age of 35. He leaves behind his fiancee Amanda. An inspiration + driving force for nostalgia geeks in us. Rest well.0 points

So... FTV is reporting that Chief Meteorologist Tammie Souza is no longer at WCAU/NBC10.. Don't ask why her contract wasn't renewed. She only spent 3 years in Philly and now she is out..0 points

WFSB is reporting in a late update Sunday night... That stuns me because it looks like she didn't have any massive health problems as of recently.0 points

Hartford, CT... Southern New England... WFSB-TV... and Channel 3 Eyewitness News will never be the same without Denise D'Ascenzo. Thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to her family and to Denise's extended family at Channel 3 Eyewitness News. Denise contributions and dedication throughout the Hardford and Southern New England area were prospectively and respectfully great. And I know many of her fans and loyal viewers are sad, heartbroken and devastated of her unexpected death... she'll emotionally will be missed. Rest in Peace, Denise... God bless you, and Godspeed.0 points
