  1. Yo, let's calm down. Sure, channel numbers are useful for most stations. But not all of them. A good local brand is decided by figuring out what has brand equity and will resonate with viewers. Obviously, in Charlotte and Austin, that hasn't been a channel number for the Tegna stations in a long time.

  2. Never did I think I would read on here on a hope for a toned down set. Lol. I am hoping for a very sleek and modern set. — Matt

  4. About time! I wonder how much longer until WSAZ gets a new Gray graphics package. They got a new set last year. And now that I think of it, The NBC Collection lasted nearly JUST AS LONG as Signature on WSAZ! Signature was from 1993 to 2006 and NBC Collection was from 2006 to earlier this month. It just seemed dated since the Balls & Walls lasted a good decade on WSAZ before they refreshed the look in 2003.

  8. Sticking to KJRH, a look back at the station’s 65th. Highlights include the logo at the time of the call letter change, glimpses of former news sets and opens, and Jerry Webber’s predecessor before switching to news, Sam Jones: https://www.kjrh.com/about-us/join-us-tonight-at-6-30-pm-for-a-walk-down-memory-lane

  9. Seriously, they already have Time Square Studios when they do presidential election coverage, I feel like that's a better location anyways.

  10. I wonder if new graphics will come with the studio relaunch. I like the current music, but if they do change it, I’m hoping it’s something with a nod back to the Peter Jennings-era music. Not a fan of the direction ABC News music has been going lately.

  11. That new logo for WQAD, if it's actually what they'll be using OTA, looks uninspired.

  13. If true change is going to take place it first needs to happen at the top...which is what appears to have just happened. This is a good change for Tegna, in my opinion. But they need to clean out the rot underneath the top job at Tegna's corporate offices. I want to see qualified and experienced journalists take the helm and steer the ship back on course. And I agree with FTVlive in this matter that Tegna has become something more of a punchline. Any honest person with a brain understands that Tegna's idea of a millennial-style newscast only make people like me (a 20-something guy) want to reach for the remote because it looks low quality and ridiculous. It's not just C Clarity that needs to be shown the trash can--the stupid newscast titles and their overly silly presentation style must go. It really makes stations like those owned by Nexstar, Hearst, Gray, and Sinclair look like world-class quality because at the least they strive to put on an intelligent newscast. And is it any wonder that people like me prefers the newscasts from those station groups instead? If I want silly, I'll go to Facebook. If I want serious, I'll watch a newscast. It's that simple.

  14. do you have any evidence to support those claims??? seems to me like a lot of tegna stations are doing fine... even winning awards for their work!!! there is no evidence whatsoever that the graphics and the music have impacted viewership... just a tvnt conspiracy theory... the format??? maybe... but the graphics??? who cares??? one person on facebook??? if you all had your way and brought the industry back to the roarin' 90's that you all consider the golden age... the industry would be dead by 2021. tegna made $552 million last quarter... 2% more than last year... sounds to me like they're doing fine...

  15. Whoever calling the shots at Tegna is a prime example of someone who lacks common sense to learn from their mistakes. Forcing "C Clarity" and those gfx on WTHR and WBNS will not end well for those stations, sadly. It hasn't worked well on any station, and it will not work on those stations either. If someone wants to "dislike" my comment, go ahead. But it won't change my opinions on that one inch.

  16. Do not hold out hope for Move Closer To Your World sticking around. Tegna (then Gannet) shattered my dreams when it ripped the Spirit Of Texas out from under WFAA for no good reason at all. This company’s main goal in life is to take away anything that made a station unique, watchable and likable and replace it with cheaply designed, grossly underpaid, non-focus grouped cow manure. Thus, they will take great pleasure in sending MCTYW down the Lougee Loo and replacing it with their new age scat-snap-and-clap-fest as the viewers of NE PA light their torches and call for some heads—that I can assure you. They will spit in the faces of their valued viewers and laugh as they smash WNEP under their boots. As an aside, can someone please bring back Belo? I will buy you lunch! (For context: I’m not some old fart reminiscing about the good old days. I’m in my early-mid twenties, you know, the demographic Tegna is trying to reach with their crap. Just sayin’.) Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

  17. Here in D/FW, Wheel and J! was a powerhouse on WFAA till KTVT acquired Wheel and Jeopardy! in 2005, and WFAA had to settle with Entertainment Tonight at 6:30PM.

  18. TEGNA mandate requires the use of the PSIP in all branding. So it's most certainly either ABC 5 or WOI 5. So either they pickup WOI5.com or they keep ABC5Iowa.com as the root. The latter is cheaper.
