  1. We'll have to grab some popcorn for the "Talkback 16" that happens as a result of this....

  2. The "US BASE ATTACKED?" that was on the wall at the start of the clip lost its question mark when it came back up. My assumption is that they were changing the graphic on the fly now that it was confirmed and there was a few seconds of black while the new version was loaded/rendered/whatever.

  4. WRAL and WTVD are some of the few stations that have affiliated with all 3 major networks at one time or another. I believe the record stands with WTTV in Indianapolis, having not only affiliated with ABC, NBC and CBS, but also with UPN, WB, CW, as well as their time as an independent. (They were actually owned by WRAL's parent company from the late 80s to early 90s, before being sold to River City Broadcasting)

  6. WKRC names Paula Toti and Kyle Inskeep main anchors. https://local12.com/news/local/local-12-announces-new-station-anchor-team Bewildering. Apparently all the data pointed in this direction...but still....bewildering.

  7. WNEP is getting Tegna-fied on Wednesday at noon! There is a video on reporter Ryan Leckey's Instagram page & WNEP's, too.

  8. Aside from the affiliation swap, there have been many changes within both stations. WNCN went from being "WNCN" to CBS North Carolina and now is CBS 17. The latter was a change by Nexstar as they merged with Media General. WRAL moving to NBC probably played a role with sister station WILM ceding CBS to WWAY's DT2 since NBC was firmly aligned with longtime affiliate WECT. And WRAL has kept their ownership and dominance despite a large number of key anchor departures, most notably, the exit of longtime chief meteorologist Greg Fishel due to a "personnel matter."

  15. Why why why do they continue to just put band-aids over that set?! It’s the same desk, just refreshed. Over and over again. That newsroom studio looked it’s best from its inception to 2008... once they added those banners, it went to pot. Argh. This “WKYC Studios” BS has been in all the annoying press releases each time a new member of talent is announced. Who are they trying to be? I just don’t get it. I have said it before, but I am genuinely curious. We’re the ratings so poor to justify these changes? It makes no sense, especially as Fox 8 doubles down on their “Cleveland’s Own” branding (which is nearly 35 years old, at least) and executed it beautifully. Russ Mitchell deserves better. Jim Donavan and Betsy Kling deserve better. I’m just bewildered by this decline. Look at anything from WKYC from 1999-2009 and mourn this loss: This just pushes the Cleveland market down the gutter even more... Argh.
