  1. Let me keep it real: Some of y'all upset WCBS's newscasts was handled by KCBS/KPIX for three days? "Woe is me I didn't see Maurice for a few days, I can't go face the world if Mary ain't on, why does Lonnie have them fancy graphics behind him?" Give me a break! Be lucky you got several newscasts, you could had none at all for a few days! Moving on, don't forget the entire CBS Broadcast operations in New York was affected meaning DC, Boston, LA & SF was handling everything for a few days including Inside Edition, Last Week Tonight, CBS News and if March Madness was still going on, they would've relocated elsewhere.

  2. Every other news op in the country is busy with their own stuff going on. And just anchoring outside just throws people out into public areas in an unneeded manner, putting people at risk for absolutely no gain. We're in an uncertain time where the entire 'virtual set' model is showing so many cracks in the social distancing situation it may have been killed, we're seriously going to have to see so many on-air personalities in different shifts to keep everyone sane, and station groups may even have to en masse regional newscasts together. ESPNU literally showed a still screen for three hours because it's too dangerous for the Dan Le Batard Show to air as normal with everyone massed in a studio (everyone called in via Skype and such), and the CBS Morning News went without graphics. As long as information is being presented, that is priority #1 over not seeing your 'news family' in that close around the big desk for the next few weeks.

  5. We need NBC to give the 9-11am slots back to their affiliates PERIOD. No more third and fourth hour please, it is enough

  6. Wendy Nations has since replaced Austin Onek on weekends, though I'm not sure if her role is temporary or permanent.

  8. They have not returned to the main studio. Mary anchored from the CBSN NY studio today.

  9. Regarding the Face the State music, as Weeters said (surprisingly) there is no corporate mandate to use C Clarity. It's just cheaper and easier for the stations to use it, so that's why they all do. I'm guessing they also use it because it is a unique opportunity to try something different in terms if the news music we are used to. WBNS' decision to continue the use of Aerial on Face the State has nothing to do with the fact that Tegna may or may not be sold.

  10. Meanwhile Aerial is still alive at 10TV, it's still in use for their Sunday Morning Political show, Face The State I checked the WQAD website and I saw the Tegna package so it is coming to WQAD (it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see WQAD fully Tegnized before the May sweeps period begins)

  12. Looks like the Broadcasting Center is open again. Maurice did the news from the CBSN NY set this evening.

  13. Or make the fourth and fifth hours available on Peacock. Because even 13 years later, I still think a four-hour morning show from NBC is just too much. Affiliates would love to take that 10AM hour to themselves again. EDIT: If affiliates like WBAL-TV Baltimore don't even air the 10AM hour, then just put it on Peacock and leave it there.

  14. Time difference, common branding, studio and control room capacity... definitely see why KCBS was chosen to do the evening newscasts. Would like to know why they decided to do the morning shows out of KPIX instead of keeping it all in Los Angeles.
