  1. There's something to be said about access to tests, but how about we don't question any diagnoses? Who the heck are we to discount someone's claim, especially right now?

  2. But does he really? Call me skeptical but anytime a big wig at a cable news network is “part of the story,” that is usually the network trying to milk it for ratings. That would be an absolutely sick thing to do, but let’s be real, do we put it past CNN and Jeff Zucker? “I have COVID-19, but I feel fine and I’m going to continue working from home.” You are one sick person. To think someone would fake this is absurd. I have no clue where you live, but in Metro NY, it is hitting the area hard. And the stories what it is like for the severe cases are heart breaking. Our hospitals here are overrun. There is not enough equipment, or PPE to protect health workers. Testing sites are overrun since so many have symptoms. Each O&O has been impacted with someone infected, and several anchors, weather, and sports anchors broadcasting from home. And any sense of feeling you are immune because you don't live here, is false. It is spreading and not all states are taking steps to contain it. This was not a hoax. Next time, show humanity even if you don't like the guy by just saying hope he gets well soon.

  3. Not to stick my head in, but I think it's an important note that was made by the original user's post. First before you or anyone else attacks me for my opinion, my true profound thoughts are with the tri-state area, and our entire country and World as we suffer through this unthinkable disaster. We will overcome and we will become stronger from this as a nation. However, it is very important to note that this is a valid point. CNN and Jeff Zucker love to sensationalize the story. Think about "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." This is exactly what CNN, along with all of the other cable news channels, have been doing for the past few years. Credibility has been thrown out of the window, and now if this is true, some people will be skeptical about it. Put it into perspective - many local news personalities (WABC, WCBS, etc) have been diagnosed and tragically died from this disease. Nobody would ever think they would make up a false case for their talent, because as we all know, local news is trustworthy and has credibility. The difference is cable vs. local, and the credibility issue is a very valid point. Stay safe and stay home!

  4. 2nd Follow-Up: This Proxy Fight is going to get more and more interesting as we get closer to that April 30th shareholder meeting. So today, Soo Kim came out with a definitive proxy fight to Tegna's shareholders citing the lack of performance and everything else that Kim has refrenced to in the past. Tegna as usual continues to defend the same thing they've been defending all while yesterday Tegna's stocks fell down nearly 20% and at one point during the trading session, Tegna was trading under $10 a share. I don't think that COVID-19 is the sole reason for Tegna's sudden collapse on the stock market a lot of it has to do with the fact that people are showing a no confidence vote to Dave Lougee and with today they closed just shy of $11 after Soo Kim's responses to Tegna shareholders. So putting two and two together I think whenever Lougee or even Tegna itself talks it sends their stocks down and when Kim talks they go up And finally, Kim also launched the Tomorrow's Tegna website https://tomorrowstegna.com/ Lot's to digest but that is the latest edition of As the Proxy Fight Turns

  6. Those weather shots from outside the studio are done with a hard-wired camera, mic and IFB. Depending on the configuration of his home WiFi, it’s possible the signal in Lee’s yard isn’t strong enough. At my home, the signal inside is fine, but if I take three steps outside the back door, I drop 50%.

  7. After a few clips being posted over the years...finally, a full episode of CBS’ 30 Minutes (the Saturday morning spinoff of 60 Minutes which a few of us may remember) from March 21, 1981:

  8. There may be a tinge of truth to this, but I'd love to hear women's perspective. Maybe as a society people have a subconscious preference for the way we'd like to see a woman appear on TV, and this comment is a manifestation of that. I'm not saying the preference is invalid or not ok, but I've never seen anyone comment on this site about any male anchor not smiling enough.

  9. But how is a traffic reporter dated? I though my that was one of THE reasons people watched the morning news.

  10. Follow-up #1: In the latest edition of As the Proxy Fight Turns, Soo Kim (as expected) commented on Tegna's announcement from yesterday and to no one's surprise it's very provacative. Here's the statement: So COVID-19 has not stopped Soo Kim from pursuing a takeover of Tegna and I actually can't blame Kim for that one bit. Another Standard-Tegna update, former Tribune executive Larry Wert has dropped out of the running for a spot on Tegna's board and no it's not because of COVID-19 but because of a clause within his contract that prevents Wert from joining another company for at least a year (which was included in Wert's contract when he was running Tribune)

  14. When WTHR and WBNS were sold, we all knew it was a matter of when, not if, and the graphics aren't terrible (WTHR's prior graphics were better, but those who don't follow this stuff could almost think these new ones as an evolution of those). Losing the Eyewitness News branding and the Tower disappointed me. I dislike that they kept the Live Doppler 13 branding for their weather because weather is more than just the radar (that happened at some point during the most recent graphics package—SkyTrak Weather became Live Doppler 13 Weather). I'll be curious to see what staffing changes happen now that Tegna's really starting to handle operations and how the market will respond. Despite all the weird drama over the past five years (ownership and affiliation swaps), Indy has become a cookie-cutter market for the big station groups: WXIN/WTTV are going to use whatever graphics Nexstar rolls out to most stations (maybe unique music though?) WRTV is cookie-cutter Scripps WTHR is cookie-cutter Tegna WISH is going to be the wildcard though...stuck with Nexstar graphics at the moment (I dislike the rotating box logo they recently threw in), but might be interesting since it's the independently-owned station in the market...perhaps they'll carve out a niche?)
