  1. SEPTEMBER 9, 1985 - The Debut of the NEW and IMPROVED NBC News, Starting with Nightly News with Tom Brokaw. It had the Statue of Liberty opening and closing. It had the anchor desk with newsroom in the background. That was where Brokaw delivered the day's news, while the working behind-the-scenes crew was seen in the background. And, of course, this was also the WORLD PREMIERE of the longest-running theme music in the history of NBC News. The start of something badass that lasted 35 years. I'm talking about The Mission Theme from NBC News by John Williams. The music is still going strong today with brothaman Lester Holt at the helm (Holt the first African-American to be sole anchor of a network evening newscast). What a first night it was for NBC News.

  4. To change the subject. NEXTSTAR just improved KELO TV with upgrades. It would not surprise me if NEXTSTAR or Mission broadcasting would purchase KTTW tv in the future. Just a prediction.

  5. Going allllll the way back to page one of this thread, WOIO's look has been claimed by Matt Quinn, who also does work with Hothaus (explaining why it's so similar to other Hothaus packages but not an official one). https://mattquinncreative.com/woio-cleveland

  6. Don't mean to change the subject but wanted to put this on here. Congratulations goes out to KOTV Meteorologist Stacia Knight and her husband Josh they are expecting their first child in September. https://www.newson6.com/clip/15042051/oklahomas-own-stacia-knight-has-a-suprise-announcement

  7. Y'all want some more...Canadian news? Well, there's a lot of it in this video, which includes opens and partial shows from CBC, CTV and Global News in Saskatoon. At 1:05:00 is the Global open using Total News, which appears to actually be February 1999 (the NMSA doesn't have a sample for CFSK):

  13. That WLAC open is awesome. Makes me sad to think how much cool local TV goodness has been lost to the ages.

  15. KCTV must have ended their sharing agreement. The other side of that chopper will have KSHB's logo, and there's footage from their chopper from within the last week. What's most frustrating is how painfully SD the camera is.

  18. Sticking to Washington, DADOSUPERMARIO2 has been uploaded some TVARK stuff, like this WUSA open from ‘05: Really sad that an almost 15 year old graphics package could actually do better now instead of the dumpster fire that is TEGNA.

  21. WCHS was pretty impressive in the '90s from the clips I've seen. Much better look than what came under Sinclair ownership.

  26. More WSPA from their Millennium 3 era that I've found! This time an actual open with the late Chris Clausen as the V/O.

  27. His name is Jim Morgan. NMSA still needs to identify him along with Bob Perry and Jeff Ellingson.

  28. The Toyota Camry ad in there is voiced by Chris Clausen! A bit curious, and I note some of the video in here is violent (in fact, KGMB anchor Dave Carlin justifies their decision to show it in the first clip!). Honolulu TV stations cover a circus accident involving an elephant in 1994.
