Who would imagine that at 11pm on a Sunday night there would be 15 news helos active from Chicago to LA.

Here is WKYC in 1976, just a few years off of their old TV3 look, with a set much like it's fellow O&Os. Much of the shakeup may have been due to Virgil Dominic, who worked at WKYC up to the 70's, but was recruited down to Atlanta to try and make something out of WQXI/WXIA (which would also become a Gannett station by way of Combined). He returned to Cleveland to launch NewsCenter8 which vaulted them to the top and along with NBC's waning fortunes sent WKYC in to desperation mode.

Wow, that came out of no where. I always liked Denise. Hopefully someone will pick her up somewhere. It sounds about the same time Rosemary is coming back from maternity leave. I wonder if she’ll be moved to weekend evenings. That schedule might work better for her as a mom of a newborn, and Erin & Lucy (or evening Keith) are fine handling the 11am.

May she rest in peace... this is the newscast that's closest to my birth date online (I was born the day before) so this is cool to see. The debut of a new set and a new theme (Telesound's "Number Thirteen") is midway through the video.

Back in the 90s WFSB, WAGA & WITI whomever was the designer had the same idea/concept. The anchor desk and some of the paneling backdrop.

On May 13 she lost her baby girl Hannah due to an inoperable brain condition. Either TBS or at least bring back the short lived syndicated Braves Southeast Network. The games were on WAXN in Charlotte.

Saturday Night was Denise Nakano's last newscast on NBC10. She has been with the station for 17 years.

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet or that there hasn't been a thread specifically about riots and the press. Lots of violence in Louisville last night. The most extreme was a police officer firing pepper balls at a WAVE crew on live television. WAVE issued a statement. WAVE also had a car spray painted. Speaking of cars, WLKY had one of their scompletely destroyed. WLKY also took damage from protestors/rioters themselves. WHAS took direct damage to their building. Windows to their front entrance were shattered, some parts spray painted, and tear gas even got into the building. In-building personnel were evacuated their stations to take shelter. Crews quickly worked to secure the building. Longtime anchor Doug Proffitt had a brief commentary on the situation at the end of their special report around 1:30 a.m. EDT. I am not aware of any damage of violence being inflicted toward WDRB or Spectrum Kentucky.
