  1. Seating them this way allows them to distance while maintaining a video wall behind each anchor. Pretty simple. Under the desk, like a foot pedal? The desktop one is probably easier to operate, and frankly, the handheld ones you suggest are more hideous, if you will. When anchors hold those, it's so obvious, and it looks like they're doing the weather or playing a video game. The model WCBS is using looked like a mousepad to me, at first glance.

  3. Starting back in February, the NYC studios began producing a 10pm show for CW-affiliate WUPA in Atlanta. Since the shutdown, WUPA has been broadcasting WBZ's 10pm show- Boston stories, Boston weather, in Atlanta. No other O&O with a news department has been tasked with producing the show. They're not airing CBSN. They're just airing an entirely Boston-focused broadcast in Atlanta for almost 3 months now. I don't know if this falls on the shoulders of WCBS, CBS News management, or CBS O&O management, but it's really... not a good look.

  4. Actually there's no chair in the weather position because there's no base for the chair. There's only room for 3 chairs on a normal day, whoever does weather stands on the black box.

  5. Caught the credits tonight. Is the presence of a director, technical director, and audio operator an indication that they're not in fact using automation? Also, nice of them to credit Weather Producer Bill Snyder. I'm sure it's been many years to date without ever being shown in the credits.

  12. 1998: KCOY anchor Don Strickland apparently had some problems with the stories not being cued up: (By the way...Strickland was lead anchor and news director at ABC Alaska in spring 1996; unfortunately, he failed to make any dent in the ratings against KTVA and of course the 800-pound gorilla that was (and still is) KTUU and by the fall, he was back in California)

  13. WYMT Close 1993. This is what happened at the end of the newscast on WYMT's second set. Getting ready for a new set. The female anchor was carried off the set and staff started to cut the background out.
