  1. Mostly a generic commercial compilation from a July 1987 airing of an adaptation of "Anna Karenina"; but a rarity around the 6:30 mark with a CBS News promo using the theme that would, that November, become the CBS Evening News theme for Dan Rather from 1987-91 and again for Scott Pelley for all but the last year of his tenure at the anchor desk.

  3. Kudos to Keke for speaking up about her role, and also trying to dispel any rumors about her fate with ABC; this finally stops speculations surrounding whatever SSK/GMA3 would become for the time being.

  4. Keke Palmer pretty much confirming that “Strahan, Sara and Keke” is no more. A comment on the post from Michael Strahan confirms it too.

  5. The same channel this copy of the first CNN newscast originated from also has rare rehearsal footage of the first 24 hour newscasts w/Walker and Hart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXJU7VIfrhw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg3tIXoGGgg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_ULpPZH6EA Also, ABC News Nightline w/Ted Koppel previews the then-soon to launch CNN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccNDC1_qf8s

  6. Vintage CBS Evening News and WBBM newscast from 1986. CBS Evening News anchored by Forrest Sawyer. Most of the time slot of the newscast was taken up by The Masters. WBBM newscast with Robin Robinson, Brian Rooney, Susan Wallace, John Coughlin, and Howard Sudberry. This is a personal rip from a tape I found at a yard sale this past weekend.

  7. This is also a sad reminder of what we have lost when CNN decided to follow Fox News and go the talk-radio-on-TV route.

  8. Another Phoenix video, this time bits and pieces of KPNX -- the only station not to change affiliations in the '94/'95 shuffle -- from January 1996:

  10. Finally found some more WNCT from the last "NewsCenter 9" era... the station had recently been purchased by Media General at this point. No newscast, but here's a promo with Allan Hoffman:

  11. And then there was this one we were discussing about in Discord. A retrospective of his entire career in broadcasting as Director. He did leave KTVY/KFOR for OETA I believe around late 1992/early 1993 where he produced and directed some of the specials (including the Centennial anniversary of Oklahoma becoming a state in 2007) as seen here

  12. I'm starting to go through a bunch of my old tapes again - so fair warning if you're a subscriber of my channel - you're about to run into a bunch of 1986-89 Houston & Cable TV content. That said, a more recent upload aside from commercials & movie opens & news stuff focuses on the sequences or segments I've simply just dubbed "legalese" in my uploads. They are the moments where general information about the station, technical data and copyright information is relayed and may or may not be accompanied by the SSB or similar patriotic song or sequence.... but don't necessarily lead to a sign-off or sign-on. This one is from KRIV, circa April 1986 (I've been able to narrow down to the week based on the episode of Star Search in a commercial compilation I posted), and runs just under 30 seconds. The first image is actually a vantage point from the roof of the former studios on Westheimer Road and Weslayan Street - one that would be recognizable to viewers of the Midday News in the early 90s, as this was often the backdrop for Matt Lavine's weather segment on the roof.

  13. From the TVNT Discord classic files we go all the way back to the very last stages of Channel 4 under the callsign KTVY during the Spring of 1990 this is actually in the form of the directors track. (h/t @Weeters)

  15. It was owned by Scripps. Same “5” and open style as WEWS. Their own sister on the same channel (WMC) used an old-style “5”.

  16. Nice. I've read that WPEC was considered a 'joke'. WPTV was a Scripps clone.

  20. Just put up the first few uploads from a tape I bought from eBay containing a Star Trek marathon recorded from FOX O&O WFLD-TV 32 (outside of some recordings from WNBC's satellite feed when my parents had the "big ugly dish" these are the first uploads from an over-the-air station outside the Hampton Roads area). November 16, 1986. One of the uploads is a promo for WFLD's movie broadcasts that week.
