  1. Yes!! Good to have the quasi old theme back. The 1978 version followed by the late 90s/early 00s were my favorite. Now if only we can get John Williams' theme back on NBC's Today.

  2. uh wow. Shawn leaving was largely (ish) considered to be the last straw for many of the commenters throughout Fox 5's social media after Allison's departure. I felt like this was probably coming sooner or later, but didn't expect it this soon. And it's also another pretty unceremonious departure for a veteran anchor -- really questioning what kind of gameplay the GM has been going for as of late, and if they're intentionally trying to alienate a core part of their viewing area.

  4. I thought WBNS would go after Mark Taylor after he left WCMH to replace Revish. Wouldn't a more familiar face be a better option to join the evening desk as opposed to someone from another market?

  5. Basically in any transaction, once they get the greenlight, they'll have 90 days to complete the sale. But they can file an "extension of consummation" to go another 90 days. But I don't expect that to happen as I think the sale would be closed way before that, given that it's Nexstar. But don't expect any on air cosmetic changes to happen on the day of closing (other than the Nexstar ID at the end).

  8. So the Marshall deal to Mission was completed last Tuesday (9/1). KLJB, KMSS & KPEJ are now Mission stations. And what @LexTVandRadio mentioned on Tuesday, the WDKY deal was approved last Friday (9/4).

  9. I was about to post the same thing. I was in my kitchen making dinner at looked at the oven clock at 6:46 and thought, wow! There hasn't been a commercial yet. I actually like the long intro thing. It gives enough details that if I don't want to keep watching, I don't have to, but leaves out some details. Lately this has been the kind of thing I turn on after my local news (on an independent station) ends and I start messing around with dinner in the kitchen. I can still see the screen from there and if I hear something interesting that I missed, I rewind the DVR

  10. Here's a real rarity from ewjxn, the first 5 minutes of KCBD's Eyewitness 11ews (misspelling intended) from June 4, 1979. The station ID also mentions their then satellite station KSWS-TV 8 in Roswell (now KOB satellite KOBR), which aired their own newscast in place of KCBD's called the New Mexico Report.

  11. After rewatching it a few times it seems that they actually do give quite a bit of information in those 2 1/2 minute opens and I think it’s brilliant. You can learn the basis of the top stories in that intro and then stick around for the intricate details throughout the show. Maybe this is ABC’s attempt at providing quick updates in our digitally connected world where programs like WNT, NN and EN have not been able to adapt as well to the changing landscape.

AND, for getting rid of that Damn Hans Zimmer crap you used since 2012, when Diane Sawyer was at the helm. What a relief and a blessing to hear that Score Productions/Edd Kalehoff theme again.

  17. I just uploaded this, but I always find it interesting when station IDs include their owner or ownership group in some fashion. This one is somewhat of a rarity in that the owner mentioned (Gulf Broadcasting) only owned KTXH for about a year, and the sale to Taft Broadcasting was announced at about the time that this particular clip was recorded - February 1985. As I opined in the clip, Taft did a better job of exploiting the "20 Vision" brand that had been established by the initial owner - Grant Broadcasting, and it had been somewhat inconsistently used post sale to Gulf. It doesn't even occur in this clip. Taft launched the version that is arguably most familiar to viewers in the area later that year with a logo that lived on until 1993 when the Paramount branding went into effect.
