  1. I've uploaded a few Houston items recently. Just starting to re-introduce content from my old channel as well. KPRC News update with Bob Nicholas and the late Doug Johnson from May 1985. KTRK News Update from December 1985 with Melanie Lawson KPRC Channel Two News Update from October 1989 with Tim Lake, currently of WTEN KHOU midday newscast from November 1993

  2. She did a facebook video about it and Karyn in her later 50s and I'm glad she gets to keep anchoring noon news & and doing other things. She started at 46 when it was WGNX as Indy/CBS for 10 years. Jump over to WXIA/11 for another 16 yrs and back at 46. WGCL/CBS46 has either tied with 11ALIVE or beating them. There alot of things 46 can do to overtake 11 in other time slots. Karyn been in the market since 1988 for over 30 years,

  3. Not classic video related, but I believe i might actually be related to Tim Lake. He grew up in Ellisburg, a rural town up north in NY by Watertown, which is where the majority of my family came from. Don’t know for sure. I do know for sure that I can add this to the Houston bandwagon: https://youtu.be/jKpmtR3EzSo

  4. I'm happy for Karyn she's been in Atlanta for quite some time. She knows the landscape of that market. 2 other tid bits about WGCL 1. They'll be revealing their new, redesigned news set next week 2. I heard that Fred Campagna might be getting moved to the weekend meteorologist anchor spot.

  5. I'm glad... Lansing is big enough for them to support.. no need for outsourcing the news from WILX... Excited to see how this turns out

  6. It's refreshing (and maybe even a little comforting) to see it finally sourced and published, but as much as I want to have high expectations, there have been quite a few new meh graphics launched as of recent, so I...won't hold my breath for CBS, given how they seem to bungle everything they launch. Edited for my own takeaways: CBS is not synonymous with a notable 'jingle' of sorts (like NBC's chime), so I'm interested to see if this will catch on. Well, we just saw CBS Evening News go through a massive change last year, but this definitely means the current look is being whacked. CBS EN, CBSN, and CBS Sports all have different fonts albeit similar in being "skinny-ish", so I'm kind of wondering how bold (or not) they'll go. Lol this just reminds me of how KDKA went rogue a few months back. As far as this specific forum is concerned, this is the most relevant development and also the biggest clue about what will change -- definitely going to be really different because CBS EN is blue all over and CBSN is red all over. Interested to see what will come from this beyond what's visible from the debate coverage graphics. This is the one main component without a stated timeline, so we probably have a lot longer to wait for CBS O&Os (and CBSN Locals, if they're even switching over either). Just IMO but I feel like the "pieces" part (referring to the new design elements for the Eye) might actually take kind of a large role with the O&Os in an effort to make things feel "modern" and "sleek," which we can't really describe for the current deployment of the Eye. Pulling for CBS here to actually develop something stunning given how major of a network it is, but it's generally lagging so far behind the other two nets so in the end, will graphics really make a difference? Probably only for us newsies.

  7. Tubi has added a live News 12 stream as part of a new "News on Tubi" section, a new FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) channel offering that will also include NBC News Now, Black News Channel, WeatherNation TV, CBC News (the curated stream already available on Xumo), Bloomberg Television, Cheddar, fubo Sports Network, PeopleTV and content from parent network Fox Corporation (individual Fox Television Stations O&Os, NewsNOW from Fox and Fox Soul). Not explained is if the News 12 channel is a curated stream featuring content sourced from each of the News 12 Networks (Bronx, Connecticut, Westchester, New Jersey, etc.)--which is probably the case, a la CNN's AVOD streaming channel--or a feed seen by Altice subscribers in the New York metropolitan area. "News from Tubi" is only available on Tubi's Google Play, Roku and Amazon Fire TV apps; curiously, they didn't bother to roll it out to its other apps, most glaringly, its Apple app.

  9. A bit vague, and I think any changes are a year or so down the line. But it's about time CBS overhauled their O&O look. Compared to their network counterparts, they are quite lackluster. Personally, I hope the CBS Sports package survives the updates. I enjoy it. Everything else? Let's give it a once (or twice) over.

  11. I feel bad for Brooke. I think she has more longevity on CNN compared to Kate or Brianna. I've said before that Zucker is the main problem with why CNN is going downhill. The whole yelling panels haven't worked. As for all new anchors, I would really hate to see staples like Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper leave, although Wolf will probably retire in 5 years or less. (he says he's not ready yet). I think Erin Burnett is better for financial news and always thought she was better at CNBC. I know many people think Jake Tapper should have been the permanent host for "This Week" 10 years ago. Chris Cuomo seems burned out but wants to stay at CNN. I'm not sure about what Don Lemmon would do, maybe anchor at MSNBC. I wish AT&T would realize that Zucker has ruined nearly everything he's touched in his career and force him to resign, but instead they let him run all of their sports broadcasting divisions too. I'm not sure if he's ruined those assets too.

  14. While looking around on YouTube via their mobile app, I came across a rare KERO 23 News noon broadcast from the mid 1980s. It includes a news open with an unknown theme. Also included is a blooper reel with news open at the beginning.

  16. Here’s something a little unusual. Back in 1996, WAGA had a story on the making of Cartoon Network’s hit show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast! Features footage of George Lowe (the voice of Space Ghost) recording his lines, as well as the writer’s meeting and animation process.
