  1. Hard to believe, it is now been 25 years ago today Milwaukee Television News and WITI-TV would never be the same. Tonight, TVNT remembers a Milwaukee Television icon... the late, great Vince Gibbens. His colleagues refer to him as Capt. Ad-Lib (Vince ad-libs on his news stories and reports). Vince worked at various stations starting in Providence, RI (WJAR), then joined WISN-TV from 1978 to 1981. After a stint in Sacramento, he returned to Milwaukee in '82 to join WITI-TV (Then CBS - Now FOX) where he worked with so many greats; Kim Devore, Mike Miller, Nancy Laffey, John Drilling, Joanne WIlliams, Vince Condella, and Carl Zimmerman. After spent 3 1/2 years at WBAL-TV (Then CBS - Now NBC) he returned to the same position at WITI in '89 where he paired with the late Melodie Wilson at 5pm and Joyce Garbaciak (Now at WISN) at 6 & 10pm. During his 2nd run at WITI, Gibbens was praised by his co-workers for his cool handling of major breaking news and news emergencies. Vince was a dedicated family man, a husband, a father of five children, and member of the military who served his country as a broadcaster for the Armed Forces Network; Gibbens was truly a well respected communicator. But his life was cut short 25 years ago when he lost his life at the age of 46 to an apparent heart attack. Gibbens death was a total shock to all news viewers and fans in Milwaukee and all of Wisconsin who adore and watched him for so many years. Many broadcasters and viewers mourned his death, but we celebrate his life, the standards of journalism he set, and the legacy he leaves. Vince (Capt. Ad-Lib), You'll NEVER be forgotten by the fans who grew up watching you in Milwaukee, and the dedication of Television News you made it happened. RIP Vince and Godspeed.

  2. I'm all for customizing a package, if it looks good and not "hacked" together. Sometimes all it takes is changing an accent color or two. Of course, most of us on here have seen so many of these packs that you can tell when part of one is part of another, or if it's "ripped off" another. The average viewer will not likely notice such things.

  3. so many incomplete packages... if you're going to change one aspect of the packages, change all the damn parts... old and new NEVER mix and looks tacky as hell

  4. Kudos to Lee Goldberg, who was in tonight, and cut into primetime programming for an extended special report on the multiple tornado warnings affecting the tri-state area. He stayed on the air until the warnings expired with explanations of what we were seeing on the live radar, showed the exact neighborhoods and towns being hit the hardest and gave advice on where to go to seek shelter.

  12. Pannoni has posted a lot of late 80’s-early 90s WTSP clips on his multiple channels lately. I probably saw some of these commercials live as a kid as my mom watched ABC soap operas back in the day before she went back to work when my sister reached school age in 1992. Now if we could only get some newscasts from this era.

  13. While looking around on YouTube via their mobile app, I came across a rare KERO 23 News noon broadcast from the mid 1980s. It includes a news open with an unknown theme. Also included is a blooper reel with news open at the beginning.

  19. That's quite the creative Eyewitness News title, especially for the NBC station of Lubbock (I think that's what KCBD was then, and still is now)-- the 1s of the channel number, separated by a large diagonal bar, forming a sort of N design (and thereby making the title Eyewitness 11ews, as quoted in the caption on the post).

  20. Here’s something a little unusual. Back in 1996, WAGA had a story on the making of Cartoon Network’s hit show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast! Features footage of George Lowe (the voice of Space Ghost) recording his lines, as well as the writer’s meeting and animation process.
