I do think Aaron and Eun were compatible, with Eun being like color commentator and Aaron being the straight man. But Jummy made a great addition to the team and she also works well with Eun. What I actually think this is a response to, is to the addition of Marissa Mitchell and (soon) Jeannette Reyes to Fox 5; they've reduced Maureen's presence a lot already. All three stations we've mentioned (WJLA who?) are pretty much targeting different portions of the audience at this point and I'm wondering if News4 can still tackle the increased competition like it has been as we approach the next few years. because of the reason already posted previously. Ratings are measured in 15 minute increments. If they break within the first 15 minutes, they risk losing viewers and risk a lower rating average... which means less money to pay the bills.2 points

I had to search through his Instagram for this to remember when, but I found instances in 2018 (e.g. August, December). They weren't any major timeslots (seems like it was an occasional weekend morning slot), but he was on-air nonetheless.1 point

Any reason why the ads cannot be evenly spaced out? Regardless of when they air, it still pays the station's bills.1 point

For all of the flack WKYC gets for out-sucking the other Tegna stations, at least they have once again a piece of their past to be very proud about, Leon Bibb. He always will be the "poet laureate" of Cleveland television. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmdvDmy5vII&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR1rNyKhrR_3Hm3WPHtIbymUisVS8Hj14_fnkyy1kXBsD8laQPcA_tmRdN81 point

Just spit-ballin' off the top of my head, since it's 2am. Others can chime in with more concrete facts. Honestly, it's probably just easier to figure out when stations have had broadcasts in the 4pm hour, period. WMAQ, for example, flip-flopped between 4 and 4:30 for most of this century before expanding to the full hour in 2016. WBBM, on the other hand, was fairly consistent with a 4:30 newscast, abandoning the hour entirely in like 2004 or so. Both stations maintained 4:30 shows through the 90's, instead ditching 6pm newscasts for a time, as syndicated fare gave them a more competitive alternative to the juggernaut entry on WLS. Whenever both were absent from 4pm in the early 2000's, WLS would tout their exclusivity in their open. WGN entered the race in like 2014, and WFLD just this year. All 4 stations air an hour at 4, with WBBM being the only holdout, but Judge Judy (even if they continue with reruns next year) surely rates better than if they did news.1 point

Wow. I've been using several search terms on Facebook to find these mentions to no avail; what search terms would I use??? Would be interesting to hear about such a monumental event in TV history (the Fox switches that occurred in the '90s) from those who were there at the time (and also at other stations that switched to Fox).... Or a screen shot of some of these convos will do...... UPDATE: Never mind, was just on Facebook; I found them..........1 point

I asked Rob Owen, The person who wrote that report, and he was concerned about a push out as well. I'm glad it was Peggy's decision though. It should be noted that Peggy was feeling down in the last few months (You can tell at points watching the Noon news). I feel so bad for her and glad that she will be finally be happy. I hope she takes a long time to rest. She's earned it.1 point

I have a bone to pick about ABC World News Tonight: WHY IS THE BACK HALF SO COMMERCIAL HEAVY????????? There have been several instances where I tune in at 6:47 PM (Eastern), to find the program at a commercial. Sometimes I'll have to wait up to 3 minutes before the news is back. At that point there'll be a short story, then David will say "when we come back..." This is followed by another 3 minutes of commercials. Then 1 minute later ... "WHEN WE COME BACK!" AGAIN!!!!!! I understand that commercials "pay the bills" but why do you have to go BACK to commercial 1 minute after airing 3 minutes of commercials! I swear from 6:47 to 7:00 I watched 10 minutes of commercials to 3 minutes of actual news. Is this time of the evening a "cold" time for TV viewing (or a "hot" time for advertising)?1 point

WKRN, like most ABC affiliates, does broadcast in 720p/59.94fps, so they must either live in the market or have access to an Cable/Satellite/OTT feed. Most of the OTT providers can pass through the same quality feed as they are broadcast. And there are ways to get these OTT feeds out of market.... I did catch one of their spots saying to "watch us on Roku!" Which is technically impossible because, well Nexstar. (unless it's FINALLY in the cards?) The only way is if you subscribe to an OTT service that carries them, which Hulu is NOT one of them at this time due to a retransmisison spat.1 point

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by Tweet pages, but his Twitter account has not been removed. It's still there. https://twitter.com/lipoftv Instead of broadly claiming he is biased, the more appropriately thing to do would be to cite specific instances in which you feel he stated something biased. If you have examples, please share them.1 point

Thank you helping me find what I consider to be his ineptitude - Phil Lipof @lipoftv · Oct 5 Easy to say when you have Walter Reed and drugs not available to anyone else. 208,000 Americans didn’t. None of us do. POLITICS ASIDE - this is about health and safety. Of course you don’t hide in a closet - but this message is completely Irresponsible. This is my opinion and I rest my case!0 points

I totally disagree with your justifying his inappropriate Tweets. Fortunately, for Mr. Lipof, his Tweet pages have been removed!0 points

The point is - a professional "journalist" should not express personal views. They should be kept persona'! Since he was a member of the O&O family, I wonder how much vetting took place????? Probably little if none. The bar keeps getting lower!!!!!0 points

According to Phil Lipof's Twitter page, today is to be his first at WNBC. Unfortunately, I also noticed on the pages that he inexplicably makes political comments! How wrong and unprofessional. His role at WNBC, and I'm sure as an anchor at two Boston stations, is not to editorialize, just to report the news not to express his personal feelings. He couches the comments with "POLITICS ASIDE" - that doesn't ameliorate his lack of judgment. Professionals are expected to keep their political thoughts to themselves In fact, many won't even vote! Once again, the misuse of Social Media can be the bane of broadcast "journalists."0 points
