  3. So the space is CBS', but sits (or I guess "sat") completely unused for over a year? I'm still a little sore that it the first floor studio had a nice set that was totally misused and underutilized.

  8. KMGH didn't move frequencies. KMGH's main signal is still on RF 7. And of course their translator KZCO-LD (RF 30). But since Scripps bought KCDO & KSBS, they have added the 7.1 feed on KCDO (RF 23) & KSBS-CD (RF 19). But staying on topic, it appears that KWGN (RF 34) is the ATSC 3 test station carrying KWGN, KDVR, KMGH & KUSA main feeds. This explains why the ATSC 1 feed of KWGN is now on RF 36 (KDVR's RF ch.)

  9. The ground floor lease that included the streetside studio also includes the current studio as well as the control room. There are floorplans on the site for the streetside studio space. Anyone leasing the old streetside studio would sublease it from CBS. From what I understand, they lease the ground floor studio space and the first two floors of space above it, plus the garage below. There are 12+ years left on the entire lease according to the streetside studio listing. Fun fact: The elephant doors to bring large items into the studios (i.e. set pieces) are actually in the mall entry immediately north of the streetside studio.

  12. Thanks to Mr. Sloan we have more OKC TV stuff uncovered. First we go to the Station "Where the News Comes First.. 24 Hours a Day.", that's KFOR in 1992. This one is one of the 2 interesting transitional periods that took place at 444 East Britton Road throughout the 1990s and this was one of them. In this instance they have dropped "News Team 4" for "News Channel 4" but kept the same theme song they've used (at that time) since the 1990 callsign change. And yes that is Bob Bruce before he left for what is now known KSAZ in 1992. Next up, KOCO and KWTV (and yes this was during Jon Slater's first stint here in OKC prior to going up the Turner to Tulsa):

  26. Macon lost a broadcast legend on this Christmas Eve. Longtime 13WMAZ (Eyewitness) News anchor Tina Hicks has passed away yesterday. Hicks had a nearly 30-year run at 13WMAZ, serving as the first African-American to anchor at the CBS station. Hicks was known for her humble spirit and strong work ethic, Hicks retired from the station in 1999. Thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out the family of Tina Hicks, and to her extended family at 13WMAZ in this very difficult time.
