  1. We don't know what type of working relationship (or lack thereof) Cheryl and Mark have, so while I agree the comment in question doesn't seem like a big deal, WE don't know the full story (and may never will).

  2. This is a whole new level of stupid.

  3. (The post above this one came in as I was writing this.) I DEFINITELY don't want to speculate too much, but thinking about some things he talks about on ESPN1000 and then these few tweets, I'm left to wonder if he's dealing with some "self improvement," if you will. He's been vocal about how hard some deaths of friends hit him this last year (including Jerry), he's been very self-conscious about his weight and eating habits, and not being able to see his family hasn't helped. Whatever he's up to or dealing with, I hope he gets right, and I'd love to see him back, when he can.

  4. That also means one less station using "Ariel" as their theme

  5. Well how Ted would have been a good anchor for WNT is on topic. The rest we can agree can be discussed elsewhere. Anyhow I expect David and George to both remain where they are for a very long time. That’s most likely why Tom left ABC. He likely knew that he would not be taking over for either of them anytime soon.

  6. Good Lord, what? Can we remain on the topic of WNT, or at least not on half a dozen topics?

  7. WVIR has flipped over to the WAFF/WWSB looking package. NBC Collection was retained along the same VO. Yes HD is still in the opens.

  9. Do I need to actually spell this out, or does putting these two posts together speak for itself?

  10. That WTVJ evening edition had Jose Diaz-Balart long before where he is today as weekend anchor on NBC Nightly News.

  12. That would have made sense. I don’t see George leaving ABC for Cable and I don’t see NBC offering him a main slot on Today or Nightly News. MAYBE Meet the Press although I think it’s more likely he was offered the CBSEN. It would be tempting to go as he wanted to take over for Diane on WNT in 2014 and have a chance to anchor an evening newscast something he’s wanted to do at least since 2009 when Charles Gibson stepped down from anchoring WNT. Apparently he also wanted George to take over for him over Diane. I’ll have to find the source for that when I get a chance. As for Tom my guess is that he’s heading to NBC although it would be interesting if he shocked all of us and went to CBS instead.

  14. I had a feeling if George were to have left the network over this dispute, which would be a big loss for ABC, I said he go to CBS be the now that I think of it anchor of politics. If Nora has that role intact, he have a critical role in politics. Though he could co-anchor Face The Nation. But the CBS Zirinsky is a feminist so maybe not, 60 minutes would be like a demotion. Yeah but she ascended to the World News Tonight chair too fast.

  15. Or maybe cuz their rival station had what we like to call “serial killer” opens?

  16. WTVY is revamping their look on Thursday. This includes a refreshed logo, new graphics and a refreshed set. https://www.wtvy.com/2021/03/01/wtvy-introduces-new-branding/ Graphics-wise, they have a similar package to the one that's about to be replaced at WSAZ, and their set is about a decade old, and is one of the standard-issue Gray ones from that era. I'm sure any updates will also extend to WRGX, their low-powered NBC station.

  17. Unless Shirleen was leaving to anchor one of the main broadcasts on ABC there would be no point to her leaving. It would be worth it to leave for GMA, WNT or MAYBE for a spot on the VIew.

  18. In terms of career progression, one would not go from anchoring a broadcast at WABC to anchoring World News Now. It pays less and the hours are worse. If anything, you sometimes see the opposite - Liz Cho and Rob Nelson, for example, both anchored WNN before coming to WABC. For most, anchoring a broadcast at WABC would be the apex of a career.

  19. Why is everyone assuming Shirleen is leaving? She’s just filling in for Mona for a few days this week. Same when NBC & CBS borrow local talent from their affiliates one assumes that such and such person is joining the network

  20. I'm throwing my bets on WTSP. The station's former male Brightside anchor, Rob Finnerty, left in November. He also follows numerous WTSP people on socials.
