  1. I don't know if this was the only reason, but at the time, the news divisions of NBC's five O&Os were under direct control of NBC News and their news directors were also NBC's bureau chiefs. (Reuven Frank talks about this in his biography.)

  2. Ellen Bacca is the new Chief Meteorologist for Nexstar's WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI. Bill Steffen is now "Chief Meteorologist Emeritus " https://www.woodtv.com/about-us/ellen-bacca-named-first-female-chief-meteorologist-in-west-michigan/

  3. Even if it wasn't the only reason, it's still a very good one-- very informative response. I'll have to look up that bio-- seems very interesting.

  4. At least KNAZ was able to for as long as they did. Even if they could 'barely' support news, the community supported them. Small town TV is great, when done right. Then KNAZ lost money and sent everyone packing, simulcasting Phoenix instead. Anyways, another 'small town TV' newscast, KAPP 35's Nightcast from 12/21/90 with a young(er) Dana Cowley, Mark Lee and Bob Romero.

  5. FTVLive reports that Christin Severance and Dan Haggerty are leaving KGW for WRAL. Dan will be an anchor. Wonder if David Crabtree is retiring (for real this time?) and Dan will be his replacement. Christin will join WRAL Investigates and the documentary unit.

  7. As mentioned, I’m a rather newcomer to NYC but how is Bill Ritter able to get away with his editorial comments during the news? It’s fine to have your say on social media but this man isn’t shy about adding his own commentary to the actual news in obvious ad-libs.

  8. Meh. They only refinished the floor and replaced the monitors. Nothing else.
