  1. Wow, what a newscast! The answer is we don't have a lot of KMOX-TV of this era. They also likely used the Palmer package briefly in 1985–86, as we have some IDs and bumps with it.

  2. YES! Broadcast syndication fees can be enormous and if you're not yielding a strong enough rating to recoup station loss then you might as well run news since you have salaried employees there (anyway). Most stations get away without hiring additional staffing. The state of linear TV is NOT good in case you've been living under a rock ..

  3. Cheaper to run news! It's a money grab (if they can find advertisers to buy at 4am) Otherwise they will package it in with digital sales. There are no ratings at 4am and national is easier to run --If you have the network programming. Otherwise, it's expensive to run "The Jefferson's" as a leadin to 5am news or in this case 4:30a

  4. She just always finds herself a new gig somehow, doesn't she?

  5. Yes it does; even though it could be at Radio City with WTMJ, WPXE (along with WTPX, which WPXE previously handled studio ops for) is out of Scripps Center. Looks like more of an organizational move to have one team handle Ion issues, so what FCC stuff WTMJ has to do is confined to that. Not sure of their engineering though, since many Ion stations are still on different towers (WTMJ's is behind their building, while WPXE pretty much has to work with Fox since they're on the WITI tower).

  6. Does that also include the ex-Ion stations that are in markets that Scripps already had a station in?

  7. Looks like Inyo has done the same thing, moving their "studios" to Salt Lake City.

  8. Put Live PD on and maybe revive its spinoffs and Newsnation will be in the top 10 in the ratings. It would probably one of the few things needed to keep a cable/satellite subscription as it would offer something no other network or streaming service would have. Do the 9-midnight slot Fridays and Saturdays and re-air it from midnight-3 AM, and maybe run highlights of last week's shows before the new episode airs, just like A&E did. The ratings would be on par with live sports that evening. It was that way until its cancellation.

  9. No. It should run Friday & Saturday nights for three hours. You clearly don't understand why. But those are the only two nights it works. The current Abrams, Larkin show is a DUD. Get rid of it immediately. It has zero chance of ever being successful. Live PD is the only show that would put NewsNation on the map. But like A&E was doing, many other shows related to it would be created because of it. NewsNation would have to rebuild itself around those shows. Live PD is the only show that will put NewsNation on the map. Otherwise it will continue to be a utterly complete failure & joke of the broadcast news industry.

  10. KATC is now using the Scripps graphics and music (and they kept Robert Burton as their longtime station voice, too)…. Hard to believe “The One and Only” Gari package is gone after 23 years at KATC…..

  11. Completely unheralded, but Scripps has begun to add Ion in markets where a Scripps station exists, but an Ion Media station didn't; •For the first time, southwest Florida has over-the-air access to the network thanks to the fifth subchannel of WFTX. This was of the few places where Paxson never grabbed a station in the Sunshine State, and the network's only market to never have a network affiliate at the very least. •Ion moved from the sixth subchannel of Gray's WBAY to the fifth subchannel of WGBA in Green Bay. •WTVR in Richmond has it on their sixth subchannel, replacing Nexstar's WRIC-DT2. •Down in Corpus Cristi, KRIS-DT5 was launched for Ion, taking over for Tegna's KII-DT3. •For a bad trades-like pun, Ion is no longer KOLD in Tucson (where it was the fourth subchannel), and now is being shot out of KGUN's fifth subchannel. (ducks , and somehow a , really?! )

  12. Looks like KATC has changed some of their weather graphics (at least on their website). Here's an example.......
