  1. Okay a couple of follow ups... KRIS 6 lit up UHF 26 earlier this week. It'll keep VHF 13 rolling for a brief period. Also..... FCC has announced the date of the auction. June 7, 2022. Also, there's a noticable change. It appears they've lowered the starting bidding prices of the allotments. For example, the Syracuse allotment (the biggest prize in this auction), the starting bidding price for that allotment last fall was $1M. They've knocked it down to $750K. And the majority of the other allotments, the start price for those were $200K. It's now $150K.

  3. The 1990s and 2000s were a very creative era in graphics packaging. Stations has more of a degree of appearence individuality and flatness wasn't as widespread. Post your favorite news graphics packages from the 90s or 2000s! Image or Video: WNBC 1990: WSVN 1993:

  4. One of my favorite packages was the December 1992- September 1995 graphics package that KCNC shared with WNBC. I have always thought it was a clean look & way ahead of the other Denver stations at the time. Forgot to mention, I also enjoyed the 2005-2008 Aqua blue & white graphics package that WBBH used as seen here.

  6. WINK also had one of these Express Spaceship sets. They used it until around 2003.

  7. Here’s an updated pic for you. The Fox 32 newsroom is to the right (4-pane windows) and to the left (3-pane windows) is a seating area, etc.. as part of the complex’s tenant amenities I believe (see 2nd pic). Fox 32 often uses this space instead of having reporters outside in the elements.

  9. I want to thank you, Don Martin -- you've finally solved a huge frickin mystery neither me or @Samanthacould figure out -- the designer of the 90s "spaceship sets", so named because KNXV's Express set from when they began their news op in 1994 was dubbed the "spaceship" in the local press. Neither of us had been able to get any conclusive leads until you posted the name. I've attached pics of some of the spaceship sets Express did in the 90s (they also did at least one Canadian set, for Edmonton's CITV; other spaceshippy sets not seen here include KWGN. WIAT and WDAF). No, the Cleveland Television News sets definitely did have the highway bars. I'm wondering where WUAB's Express set was in the building; analyzing WOIO/WUAB footage of the time, I can't figure out if it was just off the newsroom where it couldn't be seen from the newsroom cameras, or if it was in a completely separate studio.

  13. Sad news from Louisville and Kentuckiana. Former longtime WAVE 3 and WHAS 11 News anchor Melissa Forsythe has passed away of natural causes just before her 72nd birthday. Forsythe joined WAVE 3 (NBC) as a reporter in 1972, then moved to the anchor desk till 1979. She later joined WHAS 11 (Then CBS, Now ABC) that same year, and had a 12-year run as the stations the 5:30 & 11pm anchor with co-anchors, Frank Hudson, Jim Mitchell, and Gary Roedemeier. Forsythe left Kentuckiana's NewsChannel in late '91. Prayers and condolences goes out The Forsythe Family and the extended TV families of WAVE 3 and WHAS 11 at this difficult time. https://www.whas11.com/article/news/local/melissa-forsythe-whas11-wave-anchor-reporter-death-obit-news/417-116d153f-9578-4430-8005-ba1b93fdc0e4 https://www.wave3.com/2022/02/11/former-louisville-news-anchor-melissa-forsythe-dies/
