  1. The new logo is all over the station promos. Wise move to bring back the "TV55" identity. The last time they identified as "TV55" was in 1997 before they became an affiliate of The WB.

  2. They could also force the western stations (specifically the O&Os) to broadcast the east coast live at 3:30pm. I know KPIX does it, That could increase ratings.

  3. A brand new batch of classic Yakima clips. I wish they were more complete. But in this age, finding any VK-250 tapes in the wild (like this one) is worth a scan in the VCR. KIMA NewsBeat at 11, circa January 1982, unknown female anchor albeit the late T.J. Close is doing a report on Greyhound cuts at the start. Also an unknown anchor, but here's three minutes of KNDO Newservice from October 1980!! Finally, much newer, the first few minutes of a Sunday night KIMA newscast from 9/28/03 with Roxeanne Vainuku.

  4. Don’t see that happening. Norah (not many anchors frankly, but especially Norah) likely wouldn’t stick around long at the place that demoted her from the principle role. Part of that is also the network’s desire to hide “failed” anchors by reducing their contribution levels.

  5. Shep Smith filled in for Lester Holt on Fri over on NBC. I wonder if this may open CBS's eyes as to his capabilities? Ideally since Bri Wi is apparently disinterested in returning to evenings, if CBS could get him, it might work to put him on Mornings with Gayle *alongside Norah* and have Shep handle evenings. But again, alot more than anchor line ups will have to change at CBS.

  6. Looks like WBNX has a new logo, returning the "55" that's been missing since the early 2000's. Much Better, together!

  7. Sinclair was absurdly blatant trying to “offload” WPIX to Cunningham and WGN-TV to a freaking car dealership not named Big Bill Hells. That’s the equivalent of trying to rob a bank holding a bowling ball with a glued-on string “fuse”. It was so outrageous that Ajit Pai couldn’t even defend it.

  8. I agree.. they really don’t have anyone that brings the “wow” factor to the show. WNBC people seem to like Darlene and Michael.. GDNY has a good team especially later on..I do wish they’d give Dan a co-anchor 4:30-6.. WABC people will always stick with.. as they do have a really good morning team.. and PIX has been picking up some big names lately and really improving the show.

  9. I wanted to mention that I think that Jessica is excellent. She has done early AM and weekend spots, as well as the usual weekday afternoon/evening. She recently won her first Emmy Award from her News12 days. I am proud to see that she's actually from my town in Westchester.

  10. John has the quintessential personality for morning tv. Elise is more fitting for an evening newscast. It is rather bland. Modern CBS O&O newscasts don't feel authentically like the cities they broadcast to. It just feels like a cooperate model duplicated in multiple markets (even though any o&o station on another network fits that exact definition). Fox 5 when Greg & Ro were on GDNY and Street Soldiers, WNBC with the whole 4 NY campaign and especially Eyewitness News feels more "New York" so to speak.

  11. Ratings at CBS O&Os in the largest markets and at affiliates where it counts have lagged for decades. With a few exceptions, ABC and NBC just have stronger large market stations. The gutting of CBS on the news side started under Larry Tisch and has been a running theme for 30+ years. The Great FOX Station Swap of ‘94-‘95 only made things worse. Channel 62 in Detroit, anyone? When it comes to news, CBSViacom, er Paramount, either has to fix it, sell it, or close it. A perennially third-place product means it you’re forever doing just enough to stay afloat, throwing evening news talent overboard, tightening every budget screw so you don’t sink. But it’s exhausting and no way to live.

  12. Another question, should they dump Norah, do they move back to NY ,and do they go outside the bench and snap up someone from the O&Os or someone from the national cable news nets

  13. It was very homey... So much so, that back in the summer of '89, I took a nap on that couch on the left. The powers that be did not like that.

  14. WSVN Newsplex mid 1990s! Very CNN. It matched with their hard/tabloid news station format they were aiming for. Today (NBC) 1990. Gorgeous Manhattan apartment style set that was used from the mid 80s until Sep 1990. Love the window level view of the skyline, and the sunrise toned rainbow behind the anchors. The living room area was very detailed with various trinkets and pieces that make it look realistic as if it were going to be used for a soap or sitcom.
