PIX definitely needs to expand their team beyond Tamsen and Kori if they want to expand. Personally not a fan of the new 4pm anchor either. I could see Shirley Chan given a permanent anchor role soon given she fills in a lot. Either way don't see it lasting long as others mentioned2 points

I know why - because neither stations' opens were done by Gray's hub and it's very obvious. Almost anybody can design and animate stuff better than the Gray hub.1 point

I agree that dropping Kaity and Brenda from weekdays in 2016 was the first mistake; PIX needs a harder presence in the evenings. Hazel Sanchez I feel would actually bring that (in addition to Shirley) but I doubt they'd make that change given she just started on mornings. Second mistake was dropping Betty Nguyen but we still don't know the full story on that. Best news is the addition of weekends with Kirsten and Craig; so I hope they keep that! Also I agree with the time suggestions proposed; another thought is simulcasting newsnation on PIX at 6:30 to promote it as an alternative to the networks (I don't know if that would be allowed). It would also be interesting to see if they use their feed for breaking national news similar to FOX5 simulcasting Fox news channel at times.1 point

I don't know why; but I feel like with the current Gray graphics packages, WAVE and KGMB/KHNL have the best implementations of them so far.1 point

They could bring out Shirley Chan, or another anchor maybe Arrianee LeBleu. To anchor see how that works, Nexstar is gonna give up on this station, it’s gonna be a mini KTLA.1 point

Again?! I expect it to fail yet again, unless they want to expand the 6pm. And I agree, they need more anchors than just Tamsen and Kori.1 point

I can understand they did this at the start of the pandemic when they were most likely shooting at home, but to make it permanent is ridiculous. During Thanksgiving and Christmas, they did shoot the show on a set, but it was a scaled down version. Stilled looked better and had more depth than the awful look it has today.1 point

Studio 45 at the CBS Broadcast Center was home to Inside Edition and Sunday Morning. The Sunday Morning hard set took up most of the space. Opposite the Sunday set was a large green screen that was utilized for the studio portions of Inside Edition. Studio 45 is now being used for Paramount Plus. To me, the minimalistic set from the 70s is part of the DNA of the show. I think their chroma key looks cheap and is more reminiscent of the production value you'd see at a small market station, not a national news program. I know CBS values the story over the presentation, but there's a fine line between intentional minimalism and poor quality. 60 Minutes does all its studio wraps on blue screen and it looks extremely polished. I know studio space is at a premium and it is not efficient to have Studio 45 house a hard set that is only on air for 90 minutes a week. But there must be a better way to shoot this show.1 point

Agreed. It was especially a disappointment that the second version didn't last, and Tong & Blackmon weren't moved over to the other weekday timeslots (and Tamsen Fadal was).1 point

It won't last long. It happened twice in 2009 and then in 2016 with Kaity and Brenda Blackmon only lasting 8 months.1 point

thank you for tipping Dado and Larry off so they can get them (w/ Bandicam logo) for their channels1 point

I get your point here but CBS has been the #3 evening newscast since the mid-1980s shortly after Dan Rather (undoubtedly a recognizable star) took the helm. I certainly don’t think Scott Pelley “sucked” and the network having been in the same spot it’s been in for 40 years is not an indication of one anchor sucking, more so that the network itself has failed to captivate audiences.1 point

WFAA, KHOU, and KVUE going from Tegna to Cox, the owner of WSB, WFTV and WSOC? That's an upgrade. It's not the old Belo, but it's pretty good for this era.1 point

FOX 5 will still be #2 and WSB will still be #1 WXIA will still be #3 until WGCL passes them up. WAGA's philosophy has been what's WSB doing? How are they covering the story? Let try to out do them? Despite Cox/Apollo deal one thing for sure they can screw up any station, but not the mothership WSB-TV. FOX doesn't want WHBQ and there was a reason why they got sold. FOX didn't do much investment into WHBQ.1 point

I'm going with the 2003 WFAA Hothaus package. The cinematography is incredible!1 point

One "vintage logo" we'll never see on TV again for sure is likely the 1980's WVUE logo. During Hurricane Katrina, the station was badly flooded by the levee failures in the area, resulting in the station having to be re-built from the inside out, literally. Since then, the station has risen to become the #1 station in New Orleans, with it's own doing, and helped by the declining fortunes of WWL, mostly at the behest of their owners and CBS.1 point
