  1. I feel like I'm back in 1999 when The Early Show started putting their logo in unrealistic places by their Fifth Avenue cameras.

  2. By virtue of being the largest media market, I would imagine.

  3. I was trying to figure that out, too. At first I thought they wanted us to believe that Norah and company would be hanging out in there. But I have a feeling it will show results. I guess if NBC and Fox News can make it look like they are projecting election results on their NYC buildings, CBS has to, too.

  5. I don't know why they switch LMAD off the 9am in the first place last season. Glad it's been corrected. _______________________________________________ Anywho, Kelly Clarkson just been rewarded a two-season renewal on the NBC O&Os today.

  6. Even if NBC (and ABC) drop 10pm programming and compete with Fox stations with newscasts, there's still plenty of dayparts where Fox can counter the networks with local news. Most notably, 7-9 am when Today and Good Morning America are on. NBC ties up 9-11am with even more Today and ABC stations are locked in at 11am with The View. CBS may be the first to drop morning news if they finally give up on the 7-9am hour after decades of failure. And WWL would have the last laugh!

  7. It would cost millions to re-brand the network, so a name change isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Plus, one would hope they learned a lesson when they renamed WGN America before getting rid of the non-news programming.

  8. At the very least a lot of comedy and hour dramedy-type content like they air from their Canadian partners. But it's a good sign that it won't be all cheap reality-video content from $8 producers, or a Pax TV redux (as in cheap, not so family-friendly only nursing homes will watch).

  9. An excellent choice. His pickup of Schitt's Creek for Pop TV (along with its subsequent surge in popularity on Netflix) and especially its cleanup at the 2020 Primetime Emmys for its final season make him a perfect candidate.

  10. Hopefully, once they hire their programming chief, they can nail down what type of network they want the CW to be. I fear this may turn into a NewsNation situation were programming is all over the place and shows are incompatible with each other. I get wanting to save money and whatnot, but that can't be done overnight. They need slow down a bit and plan things out.

  11. It's easy to root against the bankster here. Standard General will probably just be another low class operation like most of the others. Say what you want about Tegna, but they aren't Nexstar or some of the other notorious names out there.

  13. Well, the networks already have a newscast of sorts running from D.C.--all the sunday talk shows--and Andrea Mitchell hosts her MSNBC hour from there too.

  16. Here’s a look at how Nightly uses the space. You’ll notice new insert and full screen graphics, however, the open and L3 remain the same. Interesting - Nightly, Today, and Meet the Press all originate from street side studios now.

  17. 55 years going from a local anchor in Los Angeles to the White House, Today, NBC Nightly News and even his post-NN roles as substitute host on Meet the Press when Tim Russert passed away to his current special correspondent (effectively an emeritus position); Tom's left some massive marks in the history of television news.

  20. I mentioned this in the shoutbox the other day. I finally noticed the old Nightly News part of the set being used the other day, for an interview. It appears they essentially swapped everything around in the studio when the desk got moved. That little desk is the the one that used to sit in front of the couch area on the Rock Center set. It looks like they just put in some wood paneling where the monitor wall used to be. You can see a small sliver of it on the left.

  23. A dark, gloomy Halloween...access to my Internet Archive channel was disabled this morning. Looks like the VHS hobby is going on an even-longer hiatus than I thought. Unfortunately, my hobby may even end without any new videos uploaded. AVTB seems to be OK for now.
