  1. With respect, according to these numbers WXIA has held fairly consistent. They went from 9% share of news viewers in the demo to 8%. Since WSB states the figures are rounded, that could mean WXIA had an 8.6% share in June 2022 and an 8.4% share in February 2023. A decrease to be sure, but hardly a huge stumbling. As for the supposed gains for WANF, they aren't reflected in these numbers. WANF's performance held steady with WGCL's share. Very slight increase for WPCH. While I like WANF's new approach, it hasn't moved the needle...yet.

  2. Hello. First time poster, long time reader. I work for an AMB station and was told we are getting a standardized graphics package. Don't know when it is happening. I am excited to see what the company develops.

  3. My opinion: Change is good here. Yes, the new 7-day look will take time to get used to, as with anything. Other's opinion: Only 1 in this FB thread liked it (two if you include my comment lol). Rest, well they don't. Once person asked to change it back to 'save his marriage'. Philly, being Philly I guess. LOL. https://www.facebook.com/6abcActionNewsWeather/photos/a.164230073660511/5984925338257593/?__cft__[0]=AZVBHUZenayjbhVYtwF9YV61w0VW-V9mI6YVOhNmdE11dx2ooOJVe-6Ncvicj0y-5CQB1PXKbZIGLBL7A0m2VMANeEzkQJBDeNdriw3FnlWUhukX3EM7OlC-hCEksa-MEfHbC29IG71wjcveHVPFGKUHTPyJr2poT8FzUXn8oudxcev5P2j01MFCxv9F6CkAjtk&__tn__=%2CO%2CP-R -- Matt

  4. Checking the Saturday morning newscast, it appears they are doing soft filtering on some of the camera shots. Having it on the wide camera shots is odd as the faces look way too soft. You can see the difference in this camera shot which does not appear to have the soft filtering.

  5. If you've only watch WSB to be informed about Atlanta since 1991, you probably have never wavered from North Georgia being a worst place to live than the actual country of Georgia, everybody is ripping you off and Clark Howard is a one-man army protecting Atlantans from fraud, and that the Olympics never happened and the Georgia Dome never existed, much less MBS; graphics also got really annoyed about having to change the state flag graphic even once. They have, and will never, change, and the day they become 'ABC2' will be on par with the moment General Sherman entered the city limits. (I'm exaggerating but when I look at WSOC's current 2002 weather graphics I feel physical pain and Cox has more a true art department than a graphics department)

  6. I’d pay more attention to WSB, now under the control of a disinterested private equity firm and with little incentive to have the station progress from being perpetually stuck in 1993.

  7. What difference does that make? I'm talking about TV markets, not metros. Anyway, this is getting off-topic.

  8. Look, you'll never get positive opinions for those kinds of changes on social media. If they can survive forecasts without the Jim O'Brien cloud, they can survive this.

  9. 1) Why would they change their calls just because the studios aren't physically in Fort Smith? They are licensed to Fort Smith because the FCC assigned them that city of license, and they cover that city. That is all that matters. 2) San Jose is has a bigger population than San Francisco, yet SF is listed first. Virginia Beach has a bigger population than Norfolk, yet Norfolk is listed first. Scranton has a bigger population than Wilkes-Barre, yet Wilkes-Barre is listed first. It's not a big deal.

  10. I mean I get people here are upset and are looking for some kind of justification to Gray ditching the CBS46 brand, even down to speculating a possible disaffiliation with CBS but we’ve known since Gray purchased the Meredith stations that they planned to blow up WGCL. We’ve known this entire time they had plans to make it a more serious news-centric operation with its own brand and less influence on the network it was affiliated with, they’ve made zero secret about that. What I don’t understand is why everyone is so upset with WANF and the Atlanta News First brand, sure, it’s unconventional but it does exactly what Gray said they were going to do. We knew going in that CBS46 was going to be tossed out, we knew going in that Gray intended to expand newscasts and beef up the news department. Now, WANF is trying to make headway in unseating the top stations in town for news and make a name for itself, and everyone wants to crap all over the effort. I say, good for Gray and good for WANF for wanting to try to do it right this time. I’m sure, as I’ve mentioned before with the whole KCBS/KCAL thing, that this was tested and tested and tested before it hit the air and it worked. So to come on here and have a meltdown over a brand and say that Gray is destroying the station when we’ve known all along this was their plan is kind of ludicrous. To also speculate that CBS is unhappy with Gray and WANF and plans to yank the affiliation for their own station in Atlanta is also ludicrous. If CBS really wanted WUPA to be a CBS affiliate, they would have done so decades ago. Why does CBS still own WUPA? That’s a question for the theologians. But the same question can be asked of KSTW, WTOG, and others as well. And if CBS pulls their CW affiliations from said stations, it’s not an automatic that they’re going to be actively seeking CBS affiliations for those. Heck, they could run them as 24/7 linear CBS News stations. They could do a number of things, but I think we can’t speculate about what hasn’t happened yet. I think we need to focus on the fact that WANF is finally trying to make a name for themselves in the field of news, and Gray is pouring money and resources and time in that Meredith didn’t in order to make it work. And that should be applauded, not lambasted.

  11. Well the difference is the cities you mentioned are part of the same metro. Fort Smith and NWA are two different metros.
