Wow if that PageSix allegation is true then that is really an utter shame. I'm sure he may have had his reasons for saying that and there are always two sides to every conflict he still handled it in a very horrible way and now this will probably cost him his entire career. Kinda sad too for someone at the height of their career to do such a lowball act like that, even if it is something personal they may have with each other, Ken should have never handled it like that. While conflicts amongst colleagues can be inevitable, they should always be approached with a respectful tone and manner. Now we all know that Page Six is known for their tabloid, inflated, and speculative stories so I hope it's not true but nonetheless, that is horrible and such a self-destructive act, even if it was a fleeting moment. If these allegations are true, then he probably won't be hired anywhere else anymore. Now recently, Ken and Shirleen did the Holiday Cookoff in December together, and it seemed like their chemistry was impeccable on the air. And now all of these promos that they just did have to be scrapped now, talent opens, graphics, etc, it must be a whirlwind right now to think of all of the things they gotta do, let alone find a new anchor to fill that seat. If the allegations are true, then WABC did the right thing and we should all stand by their swift action. That kind of disrespect should never be tolerated anywhere regardless of the career you are in. WABC has an integrity that is unmatched anywhere, so they have to uphold that. Anyway, I guess that's yet another lesson for all of us: Regardless of your career, where you are in life, or how high you are, one simple word or insult can tarnish it all. Respect in the workplace, especially during these times is super important, no one should be immune to the repercussions associated with any violation of integrity and respect of colleagues. WABC did right if the allegations are true.

If true, sounds like ABC acted quickly and made the right call. Good on them for prioritizing the workplace environment.

To be fair, this is Friday night we're talking about. It may not be quite the "death slot" it was just a few years ago, but I'm guessing it's still the weakest of the weeknights for a lot of channels. Also, I'd kinda like to know the ratings for Thursday -- the night after the Town Hell.

Since I can't post about this in the thread for the WBRE/WYOU package (as its now archived), I'll note here that both stations adopted new standardized logos on Monday (May 16). Both designs are based on their Eyewitness News logo, which has been modified to incorporate the logos for both stations in newscast opens (both logos being displayed during simulcasts, and either the WBRE or the WYOU logo being displayed during newscasts exclusive to either station). The layout of the call letters and NBC Peacock in the WBRE logo makes it strongly resemble the station's 2004–08 logo (since both designs, as well as the new WYOU design, use Arial Black for the callsign). For comparison's sake, here's the 2004 logo: ...and here's the new wordmark version (although the resemblance to the older design is more apparent in the EWN-style logo):

Well that's disappointing if true. Shirleen to me came acorss warm and bubbly on camera. Unfortunately, the news --much like the rest of the corperate world-- can be a very fake and two faced industry.

For additional context: A few weeks ago, WABC's corporate sibling, ESPN, fired reporter Marly Rivera for calling a fellow reporter that very word, which ended up on video https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/marly-rivera-espn-mlb-ivon-gaete.html Not to mention, this is coming after Disney is laying off people across the board.

This definitely doesn't seem good for WABC in any way. It is good they took action for Ken, but this is suddenly now giving a lot of attention to Shirleen (again, its NYPost commenters, but it seems like most on the comments are actually defending Ken and blaming Shirleen). I suppose we will see what happens in the coming days and months with arrangements. There's still another longtime morning anchor (and more deserving) that should be in the weekday anchor chair, who's name starts with an M. It would be really cool for Phil Lipof to come back, and reunite with Michelle on weekdays! I feel like that would be quite the strong duo, and viewers have already come to know them. Purely wishcasting, of course.

They’re definitely a reasonable landing spot, but if Scripps is serious about local sports programming, that could change things. If/when Bally collapses, WMYD would be an accessible station for Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings games. I’m not sure they’d want to affiliate with the CW on a long term basis if that’s the route they want to take.

Yeah…there are ways to address issues with your coworkers, but that’s a first class ticket to the unemployment line in any profession. It’s a shame, but if true, Ch. 7 made the right call.

Don’t know about you but I think WKBD going independent is going to benefit the station. Not only can CBS News Detroit expand which will only mean more advertising revenue for the station, WKBD can go back to its roots, which is to do OTA live sports again. I for one am excited. Looks like CBS is putting a lot of money into WWJ which only helps its sister station.

As it should be... Nothing is gained if you have Republicans always agreeing with Republicans. The same applies for Democrats. Honestly, what’s missing from the majority (if not all) of these 'political panels' are Independent voices. It's those voices that CNN, MSNBC, etc... should include if they truly want to offer viewers balance coverage of issues, people and events.

The only other reference on FYSA about TWC was when Jon Lovitz made a joke about Byron buying the network, which made him laugh. I'd love an evening show like TWC had for many year but I don't know if Byron will eventually do that. If FYSA is on three other networks, plus syndication and even via a FAST channel on Local Now. I don't know if Byron saw the success of Gutfeld and CNN running Bill Maher's segments, and decided to run comedy on a mainly serious network. This is a worse fit than any of the times TWC has run movies.

The only connection to weather on the show is host Jon Kelley referring to Byron Allen (who is a regular panelist on the show) in many episodes as "the proud owner of The Weather Channel." But, yeah, there's absolutely no point in why FYSA is even on the late night (11:00-midnight ET) schedule; it fits AMG's other networks (like TheGrio, This TV and Comedy.tv), but it sticks out like a broken leg on The Weather Channel. If any show should fill that hour, it should be either one of its other long-form shows or a forecast program similar to the former Evening Edition to serve as a live counterpart to Fox Weather @ Night (and as a weather-focused counterpart to the live shows airing during that hour on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News). To be fair, this isn't the first questionable programming decision that TWC has made; under both NBCUniversal/Bain/Blackstone and Allen Media ownership, it aired movies with tangential (at best) connections to weather. "Flick and a Forecast" in 2009-10 featured such films as Wind (a film set during the America's Cup boat race), Misery (which takes place during a snowstorm) and The Perfect Storm; not realizing why airing movies on a network about weather didn't fare well the first time, TWC tried this idea again in January and February of this year, with the weekend evening "Winter Movie Fest" block.

To stream a newscast? Ha! No, it is not that costly at this point, especially considering how much stations are paying for affiliation and syndication fees. If you run it with ads, you can significantly offset the costs. I'd argue that this move by Nexstar is a shortsighted plan because they're effectively laying their own demise. As station groups ask for more money from retransmission fees, the cable subscription costs increase to compensate, decreasing the demand and driving up the retransmission fees, creating a no-win game for groups like this. In the attempt to drive dividends, they are not paying down debt (only the low interests rate) which will come due soon and force Nexstar into administration. Even once the Nexstars of the world are gone, the cable industry won't recover. It's a downward spiral and Nexstar is harming their viewership by not providing up to the minute information, especially as viewers have less access to local news.
