  1. Last month, WAVY demolished their former set (debuted back in 2016). They're currently anchoring from a temp set behind a chroma key. Let me add this tidbit. Their last two sets debuted on July 21 (2008 & 2016). Could this happen for a third time?.....

  2. A lot of continuous reading I would assume. Maybe even prefering the vibe and energy of having an on air partner.

  3. She's done it a handful of times. At times Bill Ritter anchored the 11PM solo as well. The 11PM broadcast is a very 'solo-able' show considering its about a half an hour long like the 6:00pm show.

  4. Let's hope they get new graphics along with the new set!

  6. The graphics remained the same alright except that Joe Cioffi's clip had to be changed when the late Sean Kimerling replaced Don Gould as WPIX WB11's weekend sports anchor in December 1997. https://theresabernstein.newmedialab.cuny.edu/?page_id=4318

  7. How not surprised am I about that? They also did work for ESPN, HBO, Showtime, Speed Channel etc... It was owned by Patrick Egan who passed away last year.

  8. If only they could have found a way to emulate the text-drawing of the original WeatherStar 4000, especially the clock in the upper right corner that blinks as the seconds tick by. Or heck, even a non-blinking clock in the upper right corner would be cool too.

  9. He actually uses an AI program on some articles. They're marked with an asterisk.

  10. As much as Scott Jones (FTV Live) likes to call out the regression of modern-day broadcast journalism, the man fails at modern blog/website creation and simple editing of stories. ChatGPT could write better and more clearly than he does. He also thinks an email newsletter is revolutionary…in 2023. But, I will say, good for him for making a living (for 20+ years) with that site!

  11. It was Atlantic Motion Pictures who also did the movie opens for WPIX which were used from 1995-2001, also, you forgot about something, in late August of 1997, the Channel 11 News at Ten became the WB11 News at Ten, the graphics remained the same, Bob Tracey became the announcer, also, in April of 1997, the set and newsroom changed its color to blue.

  12. Just saw this license to cover, but apparently (since the end of last month) KTUL has lit up RF 14. The station has reminded viewers to rescan today (6/27). That means that grace period for keeping VHF 10 on will end today. Staying with Sinclair, Nebraska's KHGI is a step closer to lighting up its UHF 18 signal. They recently installed its new antenna.

  13. It's like how KCPQ in Seattle acquired repeats of Judge Judy after KIRO, which had aired her for nearly 20 years, dumped syndication for news at 4:00. Ch 13 did have Judge Judy for a brief time in the late '90s.

  14. I know this set isn’t that old, but it’s in need of a refresh. The two large seemless screens used for stand ups are terrible quality for 2023 standards! Also the old weather center turned stand-up space can use a seemless video wall update!

  15. If they have seemless LED screens I hope they are better quality than the ones NBC-CT has… maybe it’s just the way the cameras have to be situated due to space constraints - but the two large video walls used for stand ups are terrible quality on air. IMO they should be replaced with one curved or L-shape video wall
