  1. I'm working on tossing old CDs and DVDs I've had laying around and I came across these work sample images taken from Giant Octopus' website in 2003. Probably the peak of their design trendyness. It's amazing how much things have changed in 20 years!

  5. KPYX is obvious...WPKD sounds like "Pittsburgh KDKA". A little disappointed that they didn't go back to KBHK, but with these stations basically becoming 'plus' appendages of the main station, I really have no problems with these changes. Also just reminds us that boats also hold FCC calls...thank you for whatever service you did, Sliver Lark and Sealand Archiver.

  9. I really appreciate the way CBS 2 handled a horrible situation today. They mentioned Elise briefly at the top of basically every newscast, but then got to the rest of the news, before going in depth and tossing to a longer tribute package. Cindy, in for Chris, was with Mary this morning. You can tell that Cindy and Elise were close. (Cindy is close with everyone.) John did a great job mixing in memories and positive thoughts with the weather. They played Elise's favorite songs as rejoins throughout the morning. At 5, they tossed to an updated version of the tribute. Then Tony Aiello had a nice package about Elise growing up in Mount Vernon and coming back home. That was followed by Dick (in for Maurice), Kristine and Lonnie sharing heartfelt memories and words at the desk together. At 6, Dana had her own tribute package, and then she, Dick and Lonnie reminisced about Elise again. A very emotional day but I think CBS 2 did Elise proud.

  10. It could be worse, like a religious network masquerading as a news network....or vice versa.... But maybe it's time to revisit the must-carry rules, since 99.9% of the stations that opt for them are worthless garbage programming of little benefit to the local viewer....

  11. I don't like how they insert a name below the headline since the update a few weeks ago. On the old look, the headline would move up and the name would show up below. Now with the revised new look, there is a red wipe from left to right to unveil the change. It feels like it's a different slide in a presentation, tricking the eye that the entire banner has changed when it should be more obvious that the headline has just made room for the name. I'm hoping they are still working to adjust this. I also really dislike the flipper being in all caps.

  12. As was expected. Overall, no big adjustments in shuffling syndicated fare out of 8-10pm and plugging in CW content, but I do wonder if Nexstar will make any attempts at expanding the in-house news department into non-traditional slots for the area (11am hour, 1-3pm, the 7pm hour). Going up against Good Day and the national morning shows is a tall task, this could provide additional news exposure with no (or just one other newscast) competition.

  14. I wonder if NBC will eventually follow through on giving 10pm/9pm back to affiliates if the strikes drag on.
