That is unusual for a station in the Central time zone. I'm sure, though, that a lot of people will be happy with the two shows on the same channel and an alternative to the news.5 points

And the Sinclair renewal is still in flux with no public announcement. Even if WPNT shows CW on the 1st, until that deal closes it's officially "To Be Announced" for all CW Sinclair stations down the line.3 points

ET's probably the show staying in primetime, even on WKCF, but at this point it does feel like a long decline for ET's schedule access (Hearst will pre-empt ET on their stations for anything because that late night replay gives them a huge cushion to work with). Unless you're a CBS affiliate you're just over carrying what seems to have become a paid program for Paramount Global properties and an entertainment news org which isn't really trying as much as they did in the past. In the reverse Access will stay on WESH (even post-Seth) solely because it's NBC produced programming on an NBC affiliate. The KTVT show was never evergreen though, and we have nearly 20 years of data to show that the J!/WoF block doesn't damage any newscast or early prime ratings if it's carried at 6pm Central and makes all the other shows more important overall.2 points

It's unusual but not all that rare. As WDJT & WVUE have aired J!/Wheel on the 6pm/CT hour for years.......2 points

I'll Believe it when I see it. It's a shame that were's just about nine days away before CBS pulling the CW from its stations and Nexstar has yet to announce which stations will get it in the four remaining markets. Including (no one mentioned it yet) Seattle.2 points

That's a better logo than that KMAX box.....1 point

Especially, when one considers that Nexstar and Sinclair overlap in several markets, resulting in them having to negotiate whether to let Nexstar pick off CW affiliations from Sinclair in markets where the former has a MyNetworkTV or independent station and let Sinclair keep the network in other markets (for example, my home market has Sinclair’s KOCB [an existing CW affiliate] and Nexstar’s KAUT [an indie], making KOCB vulnerable to losing The CW).1 point

In terms of viewership retention, it makes sense to put the J!/Wheel block on one station instead of making viewers switch between two. But one would hope they’d at least consider 6pm news on KTXA.1 point

WPNT's listings show CW programming starting on Sept. 11 point

Oh good! I noticed on Sunday during the storm coverage they added a radar box in the corner of the screen to blend in with a smaller UPDATED logo with the time and temp blended in.1 point

Given that The CW hasn’t found a replacement affiliate in Atlanta (despite WPCH and WATL being the best candidates it has) and Pittsburgh (even with WPNT as an option or even settling with a subchannel affiliation with one of the Big Four stations that are not KDKA), and Mission has yet to close its deal to purchase WADL (much less announce the network’s move to that station on 9/1 regardless of whether the deal is even so much as approved by then), there seems to be a risk that all three markets could (temporarily) be without a CW affiliate come September 1… something Nexstar likely doesn’t want… unless arrangements are still being made down to the wire. At this rate, we may be looking at last-minute promotion of affiliation moves for The CW in those three markets akin to what WZMQ had to pull when it learned its DT2 sub would take over as Marquette’s CBS station literally three days before that network disaffiliated from WJMN.1 point

I like this a lot... Excited to see this roll out to other prior Meredith stations!1 point

Looks great… they appear to have re-used the video array from behind the anchor desk as a standup area. WVIT did similar with their redesign by re-using the curved video array from the weather center. WFSB just did it in a better way!1 point

Thoughts on the new logo: It’s ok. Of course it’s corporate but CBS maintained WKBD’s identity all in the while, ushering in a brand new era with the station.1 point

Actually, that weloveweather site is dead now so that's why you don't see them mention it anymore.1 point

It's been such a pain for the last 7 years that The Weather Channel brand is used by two separate companies. While the TV network technically has its own website, they almost never refer to it because they know people will inadvertently go to IBM's TWC website instead. I kinda wish the tech assets and the TV network could get sold to the same owner and unified again.1 point

For most of us in NY/NJ, the events of 9/11 and the aftermath are as clear today as they were on Sept. 12 2001. Everyone here was impacted one way or another. If we do not know someone who died in the attack, we know someone who does. I do not see any of the Big 3 network O&O's backing off the annual reading of the names anytime soon. Cutting in and out as you suggest, would cause a large number of complaints from survivors on why their loved one's name was not mentioned. That would be very difficult for a PR person from each station to explain, including the family of each station's engineer that died when the towers came down.1 point

I don’t see this happening with the NYC stations. There are still so many profound and noticeable impacts of 9/11 all throughout the city some 22 years ago. We’re a long ways off from it becoming a non-event at least in this region. Also consider that the POTUS, VP, state senators, various other dignitaries attend the events. That alone is going to warrant dedicated coverage.1 point

I don’t know that I agree with this. Maybe you’re not from New York? But that’s a day that literally happened in our own backyard. It was a day that almost everyone.. if not everyone.. was affected and likely knew someone that died. Do I think the reading of the names will continue forever? No. But as long as it does I do feel the local NY stations will carry it. It’s not like it used to be before the 10 year where there was coverage from early morning to late night with replays of the day of the event, but I don’t think it’ll just stop cold on the main channels.1 point

Agree that the 75th anniversary specials have been really nice to see. Some great footage of Grimbsy, Beutel, Johnson, and Williams days. I’m harsh on the EWN style they use but the history of WABC cannot be denied.1 point

The 75 years review was well done, and included visits with past personnel like Doug Johnson, John Johnson and Roseanne Scamardella, as well as greetings from Lori Stokes, Kaity Tong, Ernie Anastos,, Rosanna Scotto and Diana Williams: https://abc7ny.com/13629943/#1 point

Yet another Gray station trading a talk show for a local program. KFVS is dropping Kelly Clarkson for new local program Heartland Afternoon at 3pm September 5th. InvestigateTV+ will follow one week later at 3:30pm on September 11th.0 points

If it’s a half hour newscast I could see ET moving to 7:30 and AH moving to the sister station.0 points
