  1. People often ask and speculate about on-air talent compensation. NYC passed a law that took effect a year or two ago requiring employers to publicize a role's salary range in job descriptions. WABC is currently hiring on-air roles, providing some relevant data. The current hiring range for a General Assignment Reporter is 150-200k, and the current hiring range for an Anchor/Reporter (replacing Mike Marza on the weekends) is 250k-400k. Other elements of compensation factor in, of course, as does negotiation.

  2. I am glad they changed their plan and decided to keep the legacy 3 channel branding in the new logo. WBTV has a strong familiar heritage as Channel 3 going back to the analog era as the first TV station in the Carolinas. Although they did eliminate the CBS logo from the new brand.

  5. Could this holding image on the ESPN+ page for MNF Week 1 give a hint as well? MNF Shield shape is the same as the new one, not seeing neon green, more team colors....

  6. There's a pretty good op-ed piece that came out last week from Next TV's Alan Wolk about how Thompson's work should start with CNN.com. As someone who visits the website multiple times a day, I'm paying attention here. YES YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES! Outbrain and its ilk need to go far, far away from all serious news sites.

  9. An interesting move by DFW’s KTVT to replace the 6pm news with Jeopardy. The news will move to their secondary channel. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2023/08/cbs-11-ktvt-dfw-replaces-6pm-newscast.html?m=1
