  1. 70 years of KOVR 13. They've been riding high ever since CBS took over and are now constantly getting into the top two of ratings in the market (obviously KCRA is the 1,000-lb gorilla that nobody else can touch).

  2. The ghost of KidsClick has bit Sinclair, their sidecars, and six of Nexstar's stations in the ass when they least expected it. Fines have hit Sinclair, all of their sidecar stations, and Nexstar's KDVR Denver, KIAH Houston, KTLA Los Angeles, KTXL Sacramento, WGN-TV Chicago, and WGNO New Orleans for a program-length Hot Wheels commercial during the kids program Team Hot Wheels. TL;DR - Sinclair has to pay up $2.65 million, Nexstar's six stations have to pay up $26,000 each, and Sinclair's sidecars have to pay up $20,000 each. All in all, its a combined $3.3 million fine. https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-24-88A1.pdf

  3. So otherwise nothing changes. Let's Make a Deal airs at either 10 AM or 3 PM (ET), The Price Is Right stays at 11, Y&R is still at 12:30 (ET), 11 or 11:30 everywhere else, B&B at 1:30 (ET). At least that's how it looks. And it seems for now that CBS News' third hour is not going on the full network but rather a few o&os and then also subchannels (like 2-2 where I live). Even WCBS isn't carrying it on its main channel. Things can change, but it looks to me like this is what CBS has in mind.

  4. An exceptional guest has returned to WGN-TV to celebrate 30 years of the Morning News, a broadcast he was never a part of but became more famous because of one legendary bit...

  5. It's not so much a throwback as getting in line with what the other nightly shows are doing.

  6. In Letterman's first five years on Late Night, he was off on Fridays, and Friday Night Videos aired in place after Carson. The final six years on NBC, Letterman was on five nights a week, with Friday Night Videos airing right after; when Bob Costas, Greg Kinnear, and Cynthia Garrett all did the Later program (plus a four year period of guest hosts between Kinnear and Garrett), it aired Mondays through Thursdays, while the different incarnations of FNV occupied the remaining weeknight. As far as I remember, Conan O'Brien was on NBC every weeknight, and didn't start doing four nights a week until he moved to TBS.

  9. In sort of a throwback to the latter half of the Johnny Carson era of the Tonight Show, Variety is reporting that Jimmy Fallon will now be producing new episodes of Tonight just four nights a week, instead of five. Repeats/"Best of" shows will air on Friday nights going forward. https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/tonight-show-jimmy-fallon-four-nights-per-week-nbc-1236135343/

  10. I'm happy WFAA didn't add a 3pm newscast, but any changes to the 2pm hour on 8?

  11. Have you noticed that WNBC is reverting their current slogan back to the original slogan "We're for New York" as seen in a new promo? Exactly 8 years since they use that slogan, which is combining it with the word "Together" to form "Together, Were for New York" since August 2016.

  12. This is not terribly surprising, as I have seen more of Stelter on CNN in recent months. He's polarizing to some, but Stelter is great at media analysis, which there is not enough of, in my opinion.

  13. He is returning as Chief Media Analyst. Won't be hosting a show but will be providing analysis and running the Reliable Sources newsletter he started. His return follows Oliver Darcy's departure.

  14. Compared to the People images, they've amped up the warm tones, for air. I really like it.

  16. Why would anyone risk such a comfy job in a good money for something like this? I'll never know the answer to that. Some people are outright dumb and/or evil

  17. Tallahassee is about as backwoods as a state capital can be, especially for Florida. Sinclair could have capitalized on that, but they didn't. Instead, you have WCTV and whatever's left of WTXL when Scripps stops stripping it (and their sister stations) for parts. Meanwhile, the less media, the better for all of the state politicians who bow down to Lord DeSantis and his regime over Florida.

  18. A lot of the larger affiliates carry the Judge Judy reruns in syndication in the afternoon. I could see them eventually going off their schedule giving affiliates that extra hour. The trick will be getting the affiliates to give back that hour to the network.

  19. A double shocker from JB Flint from the WSJ. Sinclair fired the founding CEO of Tennis Channel for all but tapping on the Docusign and taking a deep and unauthorized role with Dr. Phil's JV with TBN, Merit Street, including moving from California to the Metroplex. And then we now know Sinclair is trying to unload Tennis Channel, but though we thought they were shopping some stations, Flint says it's more of a 'significant chunk'. Looks like they're in deeper than originally thought. WSJ website Apple News

  20. I'd be on board with CBS allowing its affiliates to have the full Noon-1PM Eastern time slot for local midday news... The Price Is Right remain in its 11AM Eastern time slot... and CBS shifting The Young & The Restless to 1PM Eastern time... The Bold & The Beautiful moving to 2PM Eastern time... and The Gates at 2:30PM Eastern time. I'd also be okay with CBS parting ways with Let's Make A Deal to accommodate CBS Mornings Plus, and affiliates having the option to air it at 9AM or 10AM.

  21. https://506sports.com/ once again breaking down maps for the upcoming season in terms of TV coverage and its freaking amazing. Here are some updates though for Week 1 (I'm only doing week 1 as an example)... Yes, tonight's game in Brazil is only available on Peacock, unless you live in Green Bay (WGBA), Milwaukee (WTMJ), or Philadelphia (WCAU). FOX has the doubleheader this week to kick off the season: FOX Early Houston (KRIV) and Panama City (WPGX) switched on Thursday from the Steelers and Falcons to the Panthers and Saints. Providence (WNAC), Springfield, Mass. (WGGB.2); Portland (WPFO), Bangor (WFVX), Scranton (WOLF), El Paso (KFOX), FOX Alaska (KTBY/KATN.2/KJUD.3), and all Montana FOX affiliates switched on Thursday from the Steelers and Falcons to the Vikings and Giants. Des Moines (KDSM) switched on Thursday from the Vikings and Giants to the Titans and Bears. FOX Late Tallahassee (WTWC.2) and Baton Rouge (WGMB) switched on Thursday from Cowboys and Brows to Commanders and Buccaneers.
