  1. Tough sell for many affiliates. First off in the Midwest, Evening News is already sandwiched in the 30 minutes between local newscasts (I know it's a different story on the coasts). Second, the network would have to take that time away from affiliates who almost guaranteed have something that likely either gets higher ratings (i.e. WCCO and WDJT showing Wheel Of Fortune), or they have a local newscast in that slot where the station gets to keep all the ad revenue for themselves (i.e. KELO, KBJR, KXMB) and not have to share with the network. Same argument for "forcing" the other networks to follow along with something that this panel likes, but still can't perform in the ratings. You first need to be able to offer them something that consistently proves to be better than what they currently have. If it were an optional add-on, perhaps you get a few affiliates to dump Inside Edition or ET. But if I had Wheel, and you wanted me to replace that with an add-on to a distant 3rd place newscast, I would tell you to pound sand.

  2. I'm in the minority but I like the current WNT studio. I think its lighting could be improved but I like the dark aesthetic. IMO it looks better than studio 1A on NNN. My main issue is the graphics and lower thirds could use updating. I agree, it would be great to see David move around the set instead of staying static and being on one shot for the whole broadcast. When I realized this this look has been in place for a decade, I was thinking the exact same thing. They must think nothing major needs tweaking if they've been on top for so long.

  3. There would be massive resistance from the affiliates unless EN+ is optional like Mornings+ is.

  4. Similar to the WABC set, it might be best to hold judgement until we see it with the lights on!!! N4 was also partially recycled from a set that existed before the fire. Most of the current set is video wall, including the main background.

  5. That is so similar to what they currently have it could be that “they’re the same picture” meme from The Office

  6. CBS and Gayle King are getting hammered in the social media comments for this by fans. It might have been somewhat controversial last year, but now with Jeff Bezos cozying up to the current president and his dramatic changes at The Washington Post, this is a very bad look for a news anchor. She will no longer be able to report honestly on a major newsmaker, at least up until the launch, and she will likely feel indebted to him for the rest of her life. The question is whether CBS will be similarly tied.

  7. So the truth with Oji has finally come out. A real shame because I agree she added a lot to the mornings (for example she'd be great as the now vacant position for NY living co-host) and certainly deserved better and fair treatment. PIX/Nexstar seems to be no stranger to not taking its employees seriously, as was documented with Narmeen Choudhury a few years ago. And then there's the case with many being pushed out (Betty Nugyen, Alex Lee, etc).

  8. Me thinks this might be a move to square the network up for a sale.
