  2. So to break this all down, the new newscasts will be... Weekdays: - 7-9am (a return from when they did WSFL) - 10-11am - 6:30-7pm - 9-10pm (a return in the market since WFOR had to drop it for WBFS once they got The CW) The 10pm will be moved over from WSFL. Weekends: - 8-9am - 10:30-11am - 5:30-6pm - 6:30-7pm - 9-10pm (News + Sports) I'm surprised they're getting rid of the weekend 10pm. I mean, what will they do with that? Other than that, WSVN must be a bit nervous but ready to compete in what will be a WSVN vs. WPLG market.

  6. What confuses me in the last few years is more ABC affiliates (especially the O&Os) dropping World News Now in favor of daytime reruns. There is an alternative to ABC News Live but at some point is it just better financially to rerun WNT and local news 11pm re-broadcast or does WNN still get good numbers streaming? They have solid likable anchors right now but some years WNN has anchors who have no chemistry and just do it for the network experience.

  10. Probably for the same reason that USA made the same practically their bread and butter (to the detriment of all the game shows that were there before, like Press Your Luck, Pyramid and Scrabble).

  11. I don't think it has anything to do with Fox News. They started de-emphasizing network branding when NBC bought WTVJ, and I assume they've stuck with that approach ever since then because it's worked for them.

  12. Somehow, this didn't get much attention other than a paywalled Bloomberg article, but back on March 7th, the Court of Appeals issued a decision in Gray's appeal of the FCC's $518,283 fine against it over the KTVA/KYES acquisition. They affirmed the FCC's ruling that Gray violated the top-four rule but vacated the fine, saying that the FCC did not say in the Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture that it found Gray's conduct to be egregious (which is one of the factors in calculating fine amounts), only doing so in the Forfeiture Order. As a result, Gray couldn't respond to the FCC's finding in its response to the NAL. They also said that the FCC didn't adequately explain "how it considered whether Gray acted in good faith" in determining the fine amount. The case will now go back to the FCC for further proceedings. Court Opinion: https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DOC-410086A1.pdf
