  1. Yeah, and it looks like based off of this, he'll be involved with network coverage of the funeral of Pope Francis late tonight/early tomorrow morning along with fellow anchor from sister West Coast flagship KABC (Los Angeles) David Ono, which makes some sense & even more worth ABC sending them out to help the main network out with coverage. https://deadline.com/2025/04/how-to-watch-pope-francis-funeral-online-1236375052/

  3. Are we supposed to take anything the Post says seriously? Even for them, this particular piece of unsourced tripe is so over-the-top that it doesn't even make for good satire.

  4. NBC: Surprisingly no Savannah. Notably they have Craig Melvin leading coverage from studio 1A not the Vatican. No Lester is understandable as it eases Tom Llamas into the main anchor role.... which makes me wonder why Llamas isn't leading coverage since he's at the Vatican. Interesting that NBC was the only network to stop live coverage as the Pope's body was brought into the basilica for burial. They went with Saturday Today from New York, with a funeral summary off the top. ABC and CBS broke about 20 minutes after. CBS: It's nice to see Nora co-anchoring with her successor John Dickerson. Networks often act weird when they (apparently) usher someone out of a prominent role, but they allowed Nora to anchor several major events before she left, and she's still a presence on the network. Noticing whenever one of the Evening News duo is chosen for major coverage, it's often Dickerson over Maurice.

  7. I can confirm WYMT will be switching to GrayONE this year as part of their 40th anniversary celebration. They are slowly working it into promos and weather has fully gone GrayONE (Watch an entire Weather cast.) The CBS Eye removal is part of the Gray Mandate.

  8. In case you needed an updated exaggerated and catty Post update on the Michael Strahan/Kelly Ripa 'feud' with GMA's upcoming move to Iger, here you go. Oooh, they have to share an elevator and they might see each other, this is the most oppressive workplace outside the Kremlin .

  9. the studios were all built with flexibility in mind — meaning they could easily be shared (like Tamron & The View) and used for other things besides a show that airs just an hour each weekday excluding holidays and hiatus… as opposed to EWN, which is on 7+ hours a day every day.

  10. If anything screams '2000s imagining consultants imagining what the kids like', it was their branding the most at that time; "43 The Block" remains on the hill of worst station brandings above "JoeTV" and that short time KWGN was "The Deuce". "Cleveland's 43" is a signal that there are finally adults in the room.

  11. It’s textbook. We’ve seen this play out over and over in countries throughout history and around the globe. It never, ever ends well.

  12. Very concerning. CBS News feels the need to bow down to a president with authoritarian tendencies to have their Paramount/Skydance merger go through.

  14. Network O&Os are sending anchors and reporters. WNBC is sending anchor David Ushry and reporter Gaby Acevedo. I believe WABC sent Mike Marza. I don't know about WCBS.

  20. Following up on this, recently uploaded to YouTube are two bulletins from October 1994: the 1 October edition of News 5 Tonight presented by Duncan Watt and Karen Ann Lam with Bertrand Bartlett on sports (top stories peacekeeping problems, an art outreach in Egypt, and an investment education program) and the 10 October edition of News 5 at Seven presented by Nicolette Tjoa and Christine Tan (top stories Singapore's first gold at the Asian Games in 12 years and a report on strokes), followed by a promo for that day's News 5 Tonight: In 1994, Singapore's Channel 5 underwent a major rebrand as part of a shift to an exclusively Anglophone service, alongside the planned privatization of the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (now MediaCorp). American graphic design company Novocom was hired to produce the look, and the channel adopted Gari Communications' "Where It All Happens" music package. This was particularly evident in their newscasts, which were split into 7pm and 10:30pm bulletins, known as News 5 at Seven (aimed at late workers who might have missed the previous 9pm bulletins) and News 5 Tonight (aimed at late night viewers) (unfortunately, the idea of a News 5 at Five missed them by a mile). They were later joined by what appeared to be a midday bulletin, News 5 Today, around next year (records seem spotty). The graphics underwent modification that year, and the music was replaced with what seemed to be in-house compositions. "Where It All Happens" seemed to have returned by 1998, and remained in use until 2001. News 5 Today and News 5 at Seven were axed by 1999, and News 5 Tonight was moved to 9:30pm, where it remains to this day. These recordings were made during what was perhaps the height of this American-styled presentation for this channel.

  21. KAPP/KV...I meant APPLE VALLEY News Now, finally added time and temperature to the bottom of that little logo box. No ticker like KXLY.

  22. Yeah I REALLY wish MMM would get rid of the news ticker, it provides zero value and is more of a distraction.

  23. KAPP/KV...I meant, "APPLE VALLEY NEWS NOW," in Central Washington, doesn't have any rolling news on the bottom, or sponsorship logos. I think KXLY does. The logo is on the right of the screen in a box. I'll be traveling back to Montana later this year so I'll check out KXLY's newscasts on the way there.

  24. Yikes large white box L3s. At least the time-temperature bug looks less cramped. Having just discovered the Morgan Murphy group, I will say some of their stations's graphics and sets look better than some stations at larger companies like Sinclair.
