  1. Sinclair and their 100 sidecars ruins everything...

  2. It very unfair for John and Maurice especially Maurice who didn’t have to leave WCBS for this job. They barely had any chance to develop. Why I don’t watch CBS.

  3. I find the show better with Mika and Joe in NY (or alternatively in DC) rather than their Florida studio. I think they may realize their meeting with trump was for naught, he is worse than his previous self and they aren't holding back anymore. Nicolle Wallace also has returned to the studio and that aids her interaction with guests (not to mention the quality of the lighting).

  4. I have noticed Joe and Mika have been doing MJ from NYC a lot this year (even though they use a DC illustration backdrop); probably the most since the pandemic. I wonder if Versant told them the Florida remote shows had to decrease after the ratings drop when they met Trump. Then again, the show is nowhere near as good like it was in the beginning. I’m sure they will still get the FL tax break like Hannity does and I am sure Brett Baier pretty soon.

  5. Watching MSNBC the last few days without the resources of NBC News has been a positive change with no decrease in quality or resources. Coverage of international news has not decreased. Instead of the live reports from NBC News journalists we get live reports from Sky News, Bloomberg & AP journalists in addition to the journalists who have joined MSNBC. On top of that we get an increase in live reporting from MSNBC journalists like Jacob Soboroff. Overall the network is more enjoyable to watch. Besides the downside of losing Steve Kornacki the split has been nothing but positive.

  6. After some people have been pondering for almost a year this question: When will KOTV 6 in Tulsa finally get a new set after their sister station KWTV just down the Pike got theirs last September? We finally have our answer https://www.newson6.com/story/685db2b747edbfd2ad80ecd3/news-on-6-tulsa-new-set-debut

  7. KOTV’s set is about to debut this evening. Set is the same that sister station KWTV has but has some tweaks such as the wall by the big 6 logo has a backdrop of Downtown Tulsa, the Bob Mills Weather Center doesn’t have the led crawl above the wall like 9’s and they have a telestrator screen for weather to use during severe weather coverage while 9 doesn’t have that.

  8. More reporting from WEAR in Pensacola on what could happen to Pensacola State College's WSRE when their agreement with PBS expires next June: https://weartv.com/news/local/wsre-tv-foundation-explores-future-options-as-psc-severs-ties-seeks-station-assets?fbclid=IwY2xjawNDiXxleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHof5b5wZtwtLvT_1VegX-JHrUYorMVLLJ6Gp80S0lcjOZ6ppUuQA4MTAbpUC_aem_lN7h_gGQzoJq2okLxhn9aw It's not looking good at this point. The college is trying to shut down the station while the foundation that runs WSRE is refusing to let that happen. The foundation is looking at even acquiring another commercial station in the market..and WPAN could be a station that fits that bill, especially if they broker a feed on it, like most of it's other subchannels. Other possibilities could be selling the station to another public broadcaster. The most likely would be Florida State University since they run a satellite station in Panama City that rebroadcasts WFSU. They could easily extend their reach to Pensacola through WSRE or otherwise, and already have a presence in the area with a satellite Medical School campus near the University of West Florida. It's entirely possible to put a PBS station on a commercial license. WNED did it for decades since they were formerly a failed NBC O&O that went under in the 50s. The only reason they went non-commercial was to perform a license swap with their sister station WNEQ so it could be sold to LIN to be operated as WNLO commercially.

  9. One of the most unique sign-offs you'll ever see... WTTW Chicago's sign-off from January 30th, 1989. With our national anthem playing in the background, WTTW uses the opportunity to showcase the people of Chicago from their idents during the sign-off. You didn't see sign-offs like this back in the day. Speaking of unique, another unique ident from WTTW. A local Chicago guy speaking in both Spanish and English for a WTTW ident—airdate: February 16th, 1989.

  11. Good Lord, what a time when networks used to PAY affiliates to run their programming.... When exactly did the tide shift from actual to reverse compensation? Retransmission Consent and Must-Carry rules debuted in 1993 and the only deals at the time were between corporations and their "sister" cable channels in the few places they overlapped. As companies consolidated, these overlaps became more common. KRON getting bought by Young was the lynchpin of the modern arrangement since NBC enacted onerous demands they did not want to follow. So they took their ball over to KNTV to rechristen themselves as NBC for the Bay Area. Other stations like WJXT and WISH followed because they either did not want to pay for network programming, or balked at the rate that they were being charged for network programming. And then, Perry Sook decided to shake down the cable companies at the source, demanding cash for the carriage of Nexstar's stations. Then the networks wanted their cut of this, and our jacked up form of paying for free TV exists to this day, but for how much longer? And most of the defections in recent years? CBS. Because they wanted more money. CBS shot themselves in the foot in Raleigh to get Media General / Nexstar to pay them more $$$. NBC gets on WRAL and runs with it since it's their best ratings EVER there. And with what just went down in Atlanta, they'll take their ball and go home where they can when it's not working.
