  1. With the opening ceremony on Friday, but competition underway now, this is the place to discuss broadcasting aspects of the Games. USA Network kicked off coverage of what will likely be their final Olympic Games for the foreseeable future this morning, but there’s no USA branding anywhere. Just the standard NBC bug (this is probably a side effect of the Versant split).

  4. I'm still at a loss for words for why Sinclair/Rincon is choosing to consolidate at KOKI's facilities and not KTUL. My assumption is that KTUL currently has the superior building and studio space - notwithstanding the cuts and partial merger with KOKH for newscasts. An absolute tragedy for Tulsa is the only way to summarize this.

  5. New mic flag today — either that, or it’s just one borrowed from another station down at the Super Bowl.

  6. As for the OBS graphics, they seem to be still following most of the design first used in 2021 but some of the scoreboards have been updated, most noticeably on curling and hockey. The hockey one is now pretty much in line with typical NHL scoreboards, complete with shots on goal. It is giving me MLB Network vibes, except teal. Though this "Winter Olympics™" tab they're putting on everything is getting annoying (they did something similar in Paris but without the ™ on it, but at least it did eventually change to things like "Gold Medal Match"; would it be easier to just slip a "Women's Group A" in there?)

  7. Here's something new, interesting, and unique. Entravision has partnered with Hemisphere Media Group to launch... WAPA Orlando. Yes, the same brand that gives you WAPA-TV and Puerto Rican flair to bring its news and programming to a growing Puerto Rican population in Central Florida, launched yesterday on WOTF Channel 26 (replacing Grit), which will be complete with locally-targeted newscasts (NotiCentro Orlando at morning and midday at launch, with evening and late night newscasts to come over time; produced in San Juan), and focused on Orlando's Puerto Rican population. This is a huge deal, especially for me, since I'm half Puerto Rican. This also gives another option for Orlando since WTMO carries several segments during their newscasts focused on the latest news from Puerto Rico as well, and frequently feature reports from sister station WKAQ-TV at times. Puerto Rico is becoming more represented in the Orlando TV market, and I'm quite happy about this. https://www.tvtechnology.com/platform/broadcast/hemisphere-media-group-entravision-launch-wapa-orlando

  8. Some news involving New York's Capitol Region (both articles from The Albany Times-Union, meaning they are paywalled)... Seven years at WTEN, four as Nexstar's New York State political reporter, and Jamie DeLine is leaving for a new job in Raleigh. https://www.timesunion.com/kristi/article/political-reporter-jamie-deline-leaving-wten-new-21331751.php Also, Meteorologist Reid Kisselback will be leaving WNYT at the end of the week. He, too, has accepted a new job in Raleigh. https://www.timesunion.com/kristi/article/meteorologist-reid-kisselback-leaving-wnyt-21331416.php So what's the connection here if both are taking new jobs in Raleigh? Well, actually, they're married to each other and are expecting their first child together, a baby girl, this winter so congrats to them on that front.

  9. I think ABC7BayArea.com would be just fine. I mean, its not that hard to change it or go with that route.

  12. FWIW, KARE ditched C-Clarity a long time ago... Not sure when. I think they've just been using prod music for a bit. The refresh is nice, I just wish they would re-phrase the "STREAM NOW" next to the QR code on the rotating bug to something about "stream anytime", "Watch on-the-go", etc. Why would I stream you now on my phone when I'm watching on my big screen?
