  4. I doubt that this administration would force Skydance to divest cable channels. They'd probably be in favor of Skydance keeping everything.

  5. The KOMO newscast from 2005 is definitely first-rate. It was the 11am and I was at school at the time (and mom would have been over on KIRO watching Y&R) but I remember Todd Johnson, Connie Thompson, and Rachelle Murcia. Greatest anchor duo in Seattle history (Kathi & Dan), the late Steve Pool on WX, first-rate reporters. Channel 4 was incredible in those days. They have done some great work under Sinclair (Seattle is Dying, for example), but of course, the corporate mandates are killing the station in other ways. And now, back to Boise for these KTVB clips, both from 1988. Bob Holland and A.K. Lienhart is on the second clip. A.K. did TV news in Boise for many, many years.

  6. Speaking of meteorologists… the revolving door keeps spinning at WISN in Milwaukee. Lindsey Slater is gone. Milwaukee Business Journal link

  7. If anything this administration will require Skydance keeps CNN. trump would love nothing more than for the MAGA monsters running CBS News to also run CNN. While CNN is 3rd place in the cable news ratings, it has international reach and broadcasts 24 hours a day, way more pleasing to trump than Skydance current offerings of a horribly rated morning show & 30 minute evening newscast. It simply makes no sense for a far right dictator who is obsessed with controlling media coverage to be against a far right company buying a cable news channel. On top of that, it probably makes financial sense for Skydance to keep CNN. CBS News loses millions of dollars every year. The amount of layoffs and cost saving they could do by merging CBS News & CNN would be massive. I honestly wouldn't even be surprised if CBS News is shut down entirely with CNN taking over "news" programming. I could also see them turning CNN into an openly far right outlet to compete against FOX News.

  8. If listings on TitanTV are accurate, it will be a very quick end for WFTX/Fox4 News when the deal closes (per the terms of the asset purchase agreement) on March 1. They show the currently on WXCW hours of WINK News being simulcast on WXCW and WFTX from 7-11 a.m., and 10-11 p.m., and a WFTX only newscast from 6:30 - 7 pm. starting Tuesday March 3. I suspect the final broadcasts of Fox4 News will take place on Friday. (Of course no one can say much, if anything, about what happens until the deal is closed) WFTX anchor Amy Wegmann posted about cleaning out her desk on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1B1w4N3Rts/

  9. I wonder if this means that WOOD-TV will lose their creative services.. I kinda hope they do, ONLY because their graphics package kinda sucks, especially with the implementation of the Roboto fonts... It looks very dated for a Top 50 market.

  10. I'm just going to throw in a FUCK NEXSTAR here. Absolutely uncalled for for WGN to undergo this kind of decimation so they have some extra pennies to destroy what's left of Tegna and to help Perry Sook suck up to the FCC and this godless excuse of an administration. I really hope Nexstar fails spectacularly when their massive debt catches up with them and their game plan of gouging viewers and pay TV systems runs dry...
