  2. Now the companies he's buying are as old as the jokes flying around on Comics Unleashed . What's AOL going for these days?

  3. A CBS News Radio piece on Sunday Morning as its final day is ever that much closer. (btw, CBS News Radio's final day is May 22nd, one day after the last Late Show with Stephen Colbert).

  4. MS rolled out subtle updates to its lower thirds today. The bottom bar, showcasing the show name and time, no longer touches the bottom of the screen and each side. The supers are also sized a bit differently with the ‘promo boxes’ on the right side animating in differently. See the attached photos. The KTR is the MS 1.0 look versus 1.1 from The Weekend.

  5. The Rincon stations have been using the WHBQ Fox Memphis graphics. In another thread, some Sinclair —> Rincon station rebranded and used the same graphics. When Imagicomm had KIEM in Eureka (now owned by Marquee), they used WHBQ weathercasters for a time and these graphics would pop up in those segments.

  6. I am curious though... Sinclair is desperately overdue for a group-wide graphics refresh... Wonder if this is just an isolated case or are we about to see a new package soon??

  8. New branding for local news on KIMA/KEPR in central Washington as of today. TRI-YAK News. Call signs going away from their branding next, perhaps? "Tri-Yak CBS"? The sports cutaways continue with Ryan Rogers at 19 and Austin Peppers at 29. Imagine if they added KLEW to the branding. "Tri-Yak-Lew". Try me, yak!

  9. KCWX Fredericksburg/San Antonio/Austin has become the first NON FOX O&O or affiliate to carry FOX Weather. Its located on KCWX 2.3 (replacing Main Street; old movies and TV shows), providing a first for San Antonio and a secondary home for Austin since its also there on KTBC 7.6.

  10. Brad Smith anchored the 5am edition of CNN Headlines Express live from Studio H. No tweaks to the format, which is a plus. The fast pace and quantity of stories feels like CNN of a bygone era. The show maintained the simpler graphics package, even saying “CNN Headlines” in the bug, despite not airing on the FAST channel. Switching back to CNN’s normal graphics at 6am is a reminder of how clunky they are. CHE still aired live on the FAST channel at 7am. Wonder if they’ll announce a new permanent anchor for the afternoon editions soon or if it will continue as a revolving door.

  11. And hopefully a new studio is in the cards too. Studio 1A has never felt right for Nightly, imo

  12. This is all KTUL is saying as of now but according to Emily who was laid off from KTUL they along with FOX23 will be more reporting based then anchoring this will start May 18th which means that’s all this week I believe FOX23 will simulcast on both 23 and 8 as they have done on weekends while training is going on this week. 13. He was a heavy tweeter just a few years ago but has largely gone silent on socials which I assumed was because of his age. This is hard to see but to your point an inevitably. I also haven’t seen Brokaw publicly in a few years.
