  1. With ctmikect's channel going down, it's nice to have a KPNX open from this era again on YT. (Kirkpatrick's addition is a bit of a patch job though...) What I really want to see is the 1992 10pm open that the NMSA has. I've never seen video of it. It's not on YT, but this is a 1994 KNXV story. Yes, 1994. The only KNXV footage I've ever seen from between launching news and hooking up with ABC: http://www.abc15.com/news/crime/old-time-crime-parents-ditch-murdered-children-in-phoenix-sewer-in-1994

  2. These segments don't just schedule themselves... Somebody in traffic places those into the computer to run at a designated time. They run where the computer and management say's to run. It's entirely possible the GM or ND HAVE ASKED to run those at those times. If I was in that position, and wanted those to run in the early 4:30am slot...I would say this first... "We have hard news...and all our inventory is sold out for all our shows." ....no defiance...none. I guarantee you with those words, that corporate would allow us run those in a "throwaway show" or in some other late-night slot. Anyplace where it does not disrupt paid spots...or "real" news coverage. That's all you have to do is justify the move, these people are not stupid, they understand the mighty ad dollars. So you all should get it out of your heads that local Sinclair management is permitting some kind of local defiance...cuz it ain't happening. You can bet when the next big election cycle hits that those 'must runs" will creep into the main newscast...and be featured in nice slots....like just before weather. (God bless Chris Manson the former national ND for Sinclair who recently passed...He was a fine man, and a wonderful father. he will be missed.)

  3. Finally caught WMAR's Midday Maryland. The show seems to have pretaped segments. The show starts with the hosts, Elsa M. And Wyatt Everhart, each sitting either side of a TV monitor - ones a single chair and the others a love seat as the "hard set" of a virtual set. They introduce the lineup, opening credits start and the hosts are apart for the rest of the show. The first segment was done by Elsa and was a paid spot by Saiontz & Kirk (a Baltimore and DC law firm that advertises heavily) giving general legal advice - there were no "submitted questions" and will be a Tuesday feature. Right after that they cut to break and there was a recorded weathercast. The B block was about back to school and they talked to high school seniors from the Indian Creek School singing praises - complete with a slideshow. I initially thought this was a paid promotion but it wasn't based on how Wyatt and the kids sung the praises given how this is when parents start looking for schools for next year. I also thought the C block was promotiom. It was on the kitchen set where Wyatt interviewed the general manager and the head who made their specialty drinks (but no ingredients or instructions). The D block was done in a portion of WMAR's old set that it appears that they salvaged Elsa was interviewing a musician from the area and has been touring the world the past year. The closing had both hosts sitting in their virtual domain.

  5. Blink and you'll miss the Proud N/peacock...still in use on KXAS's pre-roll in 1988!

  6. The other cuts are definitely 615, but I question whether that open is--sounds more like Chris Crane put his spin on it (I hear a WHDH style synth hit in there), which would be even more exciting if so.

  8. We take you to 1989 and WBOC-TV where we feature a set of commercials. At 6:22 into the video, a WBOC-TV bumper is shown and the theme they used at the time was Tuesday's "WNDU 1986 News Theme". Now, if a news open can only be found, this would get interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_N0QU_RygAI Oh wait...I did find a WBOC news open from sometime in the late 1980s or early 1990s. My guess is that they used a cut from Tuesday's "WNDU 1986 News Theme" to open its noon news. One more piece of WBOC material, a clip from a 1985 newscast with an unknown theme. Bumper is heard at :10 and closing theme is heard at 3:25. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udILX0jknIQ

  10. This channel has posted some Tulsa news footage, some of which are extremely rare. This video reveals more of KJRH's Scripps-mandated set. This one has a KTUL newscast with Judd Hambrick (!!) And this reveals KJRH's open using WWL News.

  11. Was about to post something else from the tcmedianow channel. There have been a LOT of uploads (including a number of those rare 1970s Twin Cities newscasts and promos) on that channel over the last few days.

  12. Who's this guy? I do think he was a client of Gillett Broadcasting circa the 1980s.

  13. His start was delayed a week. He was reporting live from Miami for News4NY since he was still there. He did do other reports during the week prior to his anchoring over the weekend..

  14. Alright, here's another question about the forced-at-gunpoint-to-runs. Do they even spread to newscasts on Sinclair-owned stations that are produced by another station? I ask this because during my Fox station's newscast (which is produced by the CBS station) there was the sponsor tag for BLWB during the commercials, but the actual segment wasn't in the newscast.

  17. KHSL in Chico California eventually ended up with (purchased?) KOVR's old set when KOVR moved to their new studios in West Sacramento around the early 1990s. .

  18. And a ++1 for another vintage Albany newscast! Seems like WNYT is the one that doesn't have barely anything from their archive though...
